I'll take Rylan Griffen back in a heartbeat. He made the wrong decision by leaving but we all probably would've done the same thing at his age for a big sum of money.

Agree, 6'6" 2 guards are kind of a gold mine. He has his limitations and at times gets lost, but that wingspan alone improves your perimeter defense on passing lanes and help defense immediately. I assume he would rotate between the 2 & 3 spot based on substitution patterns.

I just saw the teams in the Player’s Era for this season, and good grief it’s loaded! Maryland is in discussions to join as well

Agreed! Rylan is definitely a take. He’s a long guard who can defend and shoot and we won’t have to promise him a starting spot. The only thing that scares me is him taking the spot of another big man. But maybe the staff looked at Stevenson as more of a wing than a big.

Jarin was weak in the post area so we are not really losing anything if RG takes his spot. I like his long arms guarding other guards. We lacked that this year as 4 of our guards were 6.4 or smaller.

I'd take RG back as well. Long and athletic will help on defense, will be a better matchup when we play teams with long athletic guards as well and he is capable of getting hot from 3. Yes, his game has holes, but whose game doesn't

Neither should be defending the post.

Honestly, we need another big guy. Unless they think Reid (if he comes back) or Jemison are big enough to help down low. Maybe Jemison is defensively. I don't know. Stevenson was our 4th guy who could at least offer some semblance of size inside (other than Nelson, Cliff, and Sherrell).Mo wasn't that tall, but he was good enough defensively to be a factor inside when needed. IMO, we really could use one more guy over 6'8". We have Sherrell, Williamson, and TBB able to defend the post. While Stevenson wasn't particularly good at defending inside and Mo wasn't that tall, they were at least not terrible defending guys and helping in the paint.

We have an army of perimeter guys. I like them all a lot (even counting Rylan if we sign him). I especially like the big upgrade in perimeter size. However, I really think we need that one tough guy inside.

Assume you meant Williamson instead of Dickerson but I agree, we are thin in the front court right now. You never want to be 1-2 injuries away from being in Baylor’s position this year where you only have 1 healthy post player. The SEC is way too physical to be short on post defenders and physical rebounders.

So, you want a tough guy, 5 fouls, and play third string minutes? It would be kinda hilarious if we brought back Pringle.

lol…if he was a team player that didn’t get in trouble with attitude, I’d say do it. But that’s a hard pass for me

Interestingly enough, AU and Houston had limited front court depth but FL and Duke had plenty of size. That said, AU and UH had elite defenders even if the depth wasn’t great. If you have great defenders, there is less risk of foul trouble. Not sure Williamson or Sherrill fit that description, but Bol might.

I know he's not a shooter, but I'm really hoping we get KeShawn Murphy as another body who could be a post presence.

Also, think he could be in two big lineup since Sherrell and Williamson can stretch the floor.

Murphy is a decent shot blocker that's why I'm intrigued by him and he also is a perfect fit for our style in terms of rim running. He needs to work on his shooting though.

I figured all signs point to him going to Auburn. I definitely would like him to complement our post players though.

He wants entry passes and is actually pretty solid back to the basket/low post move guy. I think I can count the amount of entry post passes we have made in the past 3 years on 1 hand. If there is one kink in our system, it's going to be hard to land a dedicated multi faceted big because every coach we compete against will tell them the truth. Offensively you will only be utilized for lobs and deep penetration dump passes.

Does Grant Nelson know this?

Big loss. Think you have to throw everything you can at Philon to get him to stay

Yep. And going to need to get some more size out of the portal.Griffin might take Reid's spot. Need to get at least one frontcourt guy, though.
