I get that the football guys love hardnosed, dirty-work players,

I remember 20 years ago, when they hired a hockey guy to be their GM. He traded Tracy McGrady for Steve Francis. Apparently he loved Francis, because he took a swing at a post player.

The Magic didn't win much with Steve Francis as the star. That said, McGrady was done with Orlando and would've left in free agency. So you had to get something.

Why not?

Aden Holloway & Latrell Wrightsell Jr. are elite shooters
Aden is a poor defender and Wrightsell is an average one, coming off an injury that many people never fully recover from. So you're starting with a backcourt that's short and can't guard. We run into a team with long, athletic guards who can defend (Auburn, Duke, Florida), you're now relying on Dioubate, Chest, and Sherrell/Williamson to carry the offensive AND defensive load? Yikes.

I'm just sitting here imagining a lineup with...

Aden Holloway
Latrell Wrightsell Jr.
Mo Dioubate
Corey Chest
Aiden Sherrell/Noah Williamson

Just LOL.

Shoot, Rylan is like Trelly. A cold blooded, run busting three point sniper. Latrell could be counted on to hit threes when everybody else was staining the bed. Rylan is the same way. He was nearly 40% in 23/24. Could have used him and Wrightsell this year.

So tell me where's the weakness in this lineup...

The lineup. That's the weakness. That lineup would be a middle of the pack SEC squad that probably makes the NCAA tournament as no higher than a 7 seed.

Does Meechie Johnson have the oddest college career path ever?

Good thing he’s not 5’8” or so. Transferring back and forth plus possibly being nicknamed Meechie “Tiny” Johnson, would be a load to endure.

The two teams in the final 4, what Kentucky and Arkansas will have next year, Tennessee, and several others. But that’s 5.

The lineup we’re talking about is Biz playing point(when he’s a better 2 and can’t defend well) Wrightsell coming off an Achilles tear, Mo who is accustomed to playing 15 minutes like a Tasmanian Devil and picking up 3 fouls, Chest who is a smallish forward who can’t shoot transferring from one of the worst SEC teams this year, and Sherell.

That’s a young team in a league with a lot of vets and it’s not a particularly extra talented team overall.

Without even knowing what their lineups will be:

AU, UF, UK, UTk, Arky

And probably several others.

The lineup we're discussing would be the worst back court Oats has had at Bama, and the front court wouldn't be great either, except MAYBE defensively.

Someone with good info posted that it isn't over for Rylen and that Texas Tech is in on him now. Take that FWIW.

I don't want Chest on the team, much less in the starting lineup. Dude had 1 good game and did nothing the rest of the season.

I know we're in Brayden Burries top 5 but do we have a realistic chance he'll pick us?

I suspect we haven't been heavily mentioned as in the mix for any portal PGs because the staff is trying to gauge the prospects on Burries or Philon being around next year.

Sounds like Arizona based off folks from BOL.

I like Aden and want him heavily involved next year, but to play point, he'd need better vision and passing. He's a hesitant passer and not overly confident with it. Want Philon to be the main 1 or bring in another point.

We don't really know what Trelly will bring physically. I know we definitely need more length in the backcourt and more depth in the frontcourt. And to be more physical overall.

I trust Oats with it though. For now

Corey Chest would be the put back king. Defensive Stopper

Aiden Sherrell & Noah Williamson will be 30 percent from three.

So tell me where's the weakness in this lineup...

You not gone out rebound them and you won't be able to bully them in the paint. This lineup will be able to defend anybody!

This looks like a Buzz Williams lineup. Holloway and Wrightsell are also gonna shoot 30%b from 3, because the spacing is gonna be completely fricked.

I believe the first name is a bigger giveaway. How many middle aged black men have you ever met named Brody?

There's been my bet for a bit. And since Arenas didn't pick Arizona, they still have an open spot.
