Aren't they going to 15 scholarships next year? It would probably be very difficult to get that many quality players anyway, and there's no way to play that many, barring a catastrophic injury situation. But, I don't think scholarship limits will keep us from getting a player now.

Forgot about that. Considering we often use ~10-11 players a night, we'd be one of the few teams that rule change benefits the most.

Added Jacari Lane and Noah Williamson to the roster since that is the case.

I can't see how he fits, but if the coaches want him, whatever.

Mo is shorter and was an extremely valuable piece on a team that posted historical offensive numbers last year shooting 9% from three. Considering Sherrell and the other bigs we are looking at (Bol Bowen, Williamson) can shoot the rock, it would make it even easier to fit him in than it was Mo last year.

Why do we need a Mo-like player when we already have Mo…

I answered this when his name was brought up. He's a good replacement if either him or Stevenson leave.

I want Williamson, he's a very skilled big and would be Grant Nelson with a better outside shot.

All I can figure is he's a straight up frickin dog that's got great size.

I would devastated right now if last year didn’t happen. Now I’m just moving on to see what we can do next season.

Tennessee fans must be depressed as hell right now.

Wooley would give us a bit more size and athleticism at guard. I think he’s a must. Williamson from Bucknell is a major piece too. We need a center besides Sherrell

That's awesome, as long as you don't want to run our offense the way it's designed.

Corey Chest is a slightly smaller Donta Hall!

Hopefully someone who knows how to defend a pick and roll and design inbound plays.

Again, we ran the best offense in the nation last year with a 6'7" glue guy who shot 9% from 3. You are capable of running this offense successfully with a non-shooter on the floor. Our center (hopefully he returns) next year will be able to shoot.

I don't think you add him if Stevenson and Mo return, but if one of them leaves we'll need a guy like him to keep the defense afloat.

You forgot to mention that glue guy played less than 8 minutes per game.

Unless there’s an inkling Dioubate may leave, the kid from LSU does seem like a weird take.

Yes, and he played 7.7 minutes per game on a team that was very thin in the front court and prone to foul trouble there. Notice he spent the offseason working on his shooting and still didn't start and only played 16 minutes per game.

If the coaches think we want Chest, then great. I just don't see where he fits since he's too small the guard the 5 most of the time, and can't shoot well enough to stretch the defense.

We just spent most of last night lamenting how our guards weren't a perfect fit, then the very next day people are talking about how great it would be to get another "big" that isn't really a fit for Oats' system.

But hell, maybe we'll play small next year with him as the 5 and sit Sherrell. But, that would mean we probably won't get a better option to play the 5.

Yep. So far the only guy in the portal I would really like to get is Wooley. Apparently the coaches like Bethea a lot. He wasn't very impactful on a bad Miami team and his shooting was not great. All that said, think we will see some big names come available in the next month. Have to think we have a nice cache to spend with all the freed up money.

I hope not. Seems like the writing is pretty clearly on the wall. If you want to be elite you almost have to have great rim protection or at the very minimum be very physical inside. Florida, Auburn and Duke all have that in common.

We need Chest for his defensive capabilities. One of our biggest issues this year is we didn't have an athletic defensive wing. MoD is tough and crafty, but he's can barely jump and his footwork is stiff. Stevenson is soft. Reid can't stay healthy, and honestly can be a bit stiff too.

Chest is a better athlete than anyone on our team except for maybe Naas. We need that on defense, desperately.
