Stevenson was starting before Wrightsell was injured.

And Mo D isn’t getting Cliff minutes. He isn’t a 5. I love Mo a lot and love what he brings. No point in really arguing it. I guess we’ll see next year. I hope all of the guys come back so we can see how it shakes out.

Losing Sears, Grant, Cliff and YB... If we don't pull at least one veteran insta start boss from the portal, I think it would be difficult to compete at an elite level for an entire season with that lineup. Every guy in that lineup is good and some are borderline very good, but a consistent boss i dont see

We should be able to. With the money we had set aside in case Dybantsa picked us and the extra money we had to give Sears and Nelson to return freeing up, we should have a pretty alluring offer to make

I’m also expecting Holloway to make a huge leap. I remember Sears first year when he was sort of the 3rd guard behind Shackelford and JQ and looked good but then made a leap when it was his show. He was a top 15 kid who just fell in our lap because Pearl was too busy getting his third plate at Golden Corral to keep him in the fold

What if we brought Rylan Griffen back?

atleast in regards to mo D, i would say common sense. his game is far more polished.

More polished? LOL, I like Mo, but he's literally Dennis Rodman. He's just a hustle guy. There's nothing polished about him.

Jarin needs to continue to improve, but there's a reason he's been on draft boards since he was 17.

Jarin

His shot looked really good against MSU. I don’t know if he changed something or if it’s confidence, but he looked relaxed letting that thing go.

I like his effort, but he needs to develop an edge to his game. Every time he grabs a rebound or loose ball his equilibrium disappears and he falls down.

In what way in Mo polished LOL. He’s the most raw player on our team by far. Pure effort guy. Jarin is literally shooting over 40% from 3 in conference play.

Jarin has reached that Jedrick Wills status where fans are overly critical in a herd mentality way and don’t realize the things he does really well

Mo D is in his Coker phase where the fans overhype him a bit as he kind of does a couple of things well at a million miles per hour and it’s endearing

Disagree. I think we’ll have the best or at worst 2nd best (behind Auburn) returning core in the SEC next year. Easy preseason top 10, probably even top 5. I’d have a hard time finding 5 better rotations than Holloway/Wrightsell/Mallette/Reid/Stevenson/Dioubate/Sherrell, and that’s before you even get into a guy like Philon who still might return or a freshman like Jemison who is likely to play early.

"Polished" is such a versatile attribute in basketball. They are two completely different kinds of bigs. In terms of defense, overall slashing, and footwork down low, I do think Mo is more polished. But in terms of the more finesse parts of the game, Stevenson is more polished.

Answer here is he has a smooth stroke, shown flashes of skill inside and he's 6'11". If Mo was having the same impact but was 4 inches taller, he'd be a lottery pick this year.

This isn't to say Stevenson is a bust and we shouldn't play him, but Mo has clearly been the superior player to this point. Having said that, Oats has pretty clearly taken the course of "screw regular season titles" and focused improving this team for March. Continuing to play Stevenson and get him playing at the level he's capable of will be massive to our chances of winning a national title. So no we shouldn't bench him, just like we shouldn't have benched Sears just because of his high turnover and poor efficiency stretch, even though quite a few fans called for it (Bama Twitter sucks). Goal is a national title. We have 2 SEC Regular Season titles and 2 SECT titles in the last 4 years. Time to do something that hasn't been done before in our program.

I thought AU had a very heavy senior veteran team. Aren't they all gone after this season?

They have a lot of old players, but because many of them started in either JUCO (Denver Jones, Chad Baker-Mazara) or DII (Chaney Johnson) there's a real possibility they return those three in addition to Pettiford.

I also would not be surprised to see them get Yaxel Lendeborg from UAB who would be a Johni Broome plug-and-play replacement.

That would be a starting 5-man core of Pettiford, 23-year-olds Lendeborg and Johnson, 25-year-old Jones, and 26-year-old Baker-Mazara.

Good grief, what has happened to college athletics! I will say this though, that we need to shadow whoever Bruce is recruiting at Center and just throw more money at them so they don't go to AU. He is an elite recruiter at Center and I feel like that is the difference in our team compared to theirs. Don't get me wrong. I like Cliff, but if we had a Kessler/Broome type center we would be unstoppable and AU seems to get that every year

As long as we return Biz, Mo D, and Sherrill I will be happy.

Jarin will portal IMO.

Wrightsell and Mallette will be back

Philon and Reid are??? if they return.

London Jemison will be our best freshman since Brandon and will be a major part of next years team IMO.

Also expect us to add 3 or 4 through portal

Hope you’re wrong about Jarin or I fear in a year or 2 we’re going to be seeing him light it up somewhere as he hits what should be his Sophomore year next year.

He’d be a player I would be sad to lose but I couldn’t 100% blame him because I think he’s under appreciated

His outside shots are starting to fall, and he is an asset on D, but I grimace every time he takes a dribble.

But then again, I do the same with Mo.

Weird take.

Jarin will be a starter here next year, assuming he doesn't leave for the NBA.

Just looked at the box score. MSU 33.8 % shooting. Mayrlland 31.3%. Those are overall, not 3s. How do you sit through something like that?

lol…Oats has definitely spoiled us. I only caught the last 90 seconds, saw the MSU player make the horrible TO and foul that appeared to give the game away only to see the same player rip the heart out of thousands of Maryland fans less than a minute later. One of the fastest goats (little g as in bad) to hero moments I’ve ever seen live on TV.

Sears first year in Tuscaloosa he was the 2nd leading scorer on the team behind Miller. Shackelford and Sears never played together and Quinnerly was recovering from knee surgery and missed the first half of the season.
