Why don't you head over to the recently bumped 2017 or 2018 threads for a reminder of what "a season heading into the shitter" in February actually looks like.

Or last year. The final 4 run had a lot of people forget how poorly Bama looked down the stretch. Bama went 2-4 entering the NCAA tournament.

I think Clliff is better now but don't think that would be the case if they'd been splitting minutes all season.

I didn't think he was 1-5 versus Wake but he could've been.

Didn't we play a scrimmage as well?

He looked pretty good against Wake Forest. We had the perfect roster this year and injuries plagued us. Imagine Wrightsell and Mallette being healthy with Philon and Holloway dishing it to them.

On paper, yes, I thought this team was just about perfection and to be honest, Bama is still a legit top 4 team and I would still give them good odds against anyone.... but just going to be blunt here. Cliff is not the lockdown paint defender a lot of us thought he was going to be. His help defense borders on being a liability and personally I thought that would be his strong suit. Maybe it's our defensive system, I don't know. He's a pretty solid rebounder and he is adequate defensively straight up. Hopefully it's just a matter of adjustments and he quits getting his head under the backboard before he commits to defending a 6'2 guard on dribble penetration.

Folks can't stand the fact that I rightly called the team soft when I posted that Auburn would "out-tough" the Tide.

Banning me for telling the truth isn't going to solve the problem. But banning me isn't going to bother me one iota, either.

I thought we were tougher than Auburn Saturday. They just defended us perfectly with more athletic guards and made a bunch of tough 2s and 3s while we were missing close 2s.

They played like shite last night, too, only they weren't facing an offensive buzzsaw like we were.

How many more performances like the last two will it take for reality to set in?

What does that mean, exactly? What is this "reality"? Is this "reality" of some sort of ceiling that the performance currently projects on this team in the tournament? As if poor performance in the last 3 weeks of the season is a direct determinate of how the team will perform in the tournament?

If that is your so called "reality", may I ask if you were in a fvckin coma 12 months ago or no?

I don’t want to pull a Chad and disappear off the grid (RIP Chad) but the miserable fricks after any little thing goes wrong make me want to stop wasting any of my time on this site.

I mean I'm pretty pessimistic in nature and do not have very good vibes about this team at the moment for various reasons - but how on earth could you have watched last season and still be making firm declarations about how the season will end because of something happening in February (and what has happened the last 5 days is not even CLOSE to what happened to end last regular season)?

Not to mention, losing 2 games to Top 10 teams (Mizzou is absolutely that the last 8 weeks) by an average of about 10 points isn't exactly the end of the basketball world (that would be what is happening in Lawrence, KS). If we play how we played the last 7 days in March we likely lose in the Sweet 16. That's the horror of the season right now.

Calling out crap is fine (trust me, it's my favorite hobby), but acting like we're 14-11 and cratering is patently absurd. If you can't somewhat enjoy what is going on with this program right now unless they are the clear #1 team in the country with a no doubt path to the Final Four then find a new damn hobby, cause this one ain't for you.

Does 24-7 get us a 1 seed?

UNC had 7 losses last year and was a 1 and I don’t think their resume compares to ours.

Regardless these next 2 at Home are Must wins. And then we got to find a way to win in Knoxville or beat Florida.

I would take Grant out of the starting lineup. Bringing him and Biz off the bench would give us an advantage.

My Starting Lineup would be:

Sears
Philon(Quit making careless passes)
Youngblood
Mo D
Cliff

because of something happening in February

I wouldn't be as concerned with the February issues if they hadn't been festering since November. The boneheaded turnovers have showed up in nearly every game. The inability to inbound the basketball on our end of the court has bene around for several years. The inability to stop an opponents best player has been brewing since November. These are all things that make going on a 6-0 run nearly impossible. We have been bad all year at a lot of the little things.

I think if we somehow as a team just decide collectively that we're going to give 100% effort on defense when the tournament starts, on every possession, we will go farther than I anticipate. Our flaws this season though have been flaws form start to finish.
