I live Alabama basketball and I hope we win it all this year, but it blows my mind that we don’t run a single play up the court. Whoever brings it up, is the one who dribble drives and shoot or we use rebounds for our backs. We win on being hot at 3 or just pure talent and athleticism. Thats one reason UConn beat us last year in the final 4. They passed on average 9 times just to find the open player and it wasn’t a half court three point shot. If we’re hot from 3, we are hard to stop. If we’re not, we will get blown out by Auburn.

I think I might’ve found the best Alabama basketball take yet. This guy on the rant is definitely in tune with our basketball program and offensive philosophy

Yes, yes, he lives Bama basketball and knows one guy brings the ball up and drives or we jack up a long three. He's clearly locked into the games.

gotcha thanks guys.
I'll be taking my son to his first bball game tomorrow. The last 2 times we've played in tuscaloosa my wife and I have gone but we left before halftime both times. The last time we left at the 4minute timeout of the first half

I swear, every casual Alabama fan I talk to about basketball inevitably says "I just don't like how we live and die by the 3". Then I point out how we actually are not shooting well from behind the arc this season and still are a projected #1 seed and it just doesn't compute.

But we lose sometimes when we don’t shoot well from 3, turn it over a bunch, and miss our free throws!!!

Or the fact that it’s not as simple as just launching a 3. There’s constant motion and guys hit their spots to get these 3s. It’s not by luck or coincidence.

My favorite part of that take isn't even the 3s, it's the idea that we don't pass the ball around

We assist 56% of our makes

I have ZERO concerns with offense, Bama can score multiple ways and is the top scoring team in the league. The issues for me are turnovers, defense, and FT shooting.

I thought the defense would be MUCH better this year with adding rim protecting defenders such as Cliff, Sherriel, and Reid, but is only slightly better than a year ago. Maybe they will pick it up the defensive intensity late like they did last year.

Yeah but our PG doesn't slowly dribble down the court and make a hand signal for a set play to be run, so it doesn't count.

I agree that I thought the defense would be better this year than what we currently are, but it’s a ton better than last year.

I've spent 10 minutes avoiding work and trying to wrap my head around how someone could arrive at the conclusion that we play an iso heavy offense with minimal ball movement. I'm genuinely curious, assuming this person is actually an Alabama fan and not a troll.

I'm hoping that it'll start trending in the right direction with Reid back in the rotation. Before he got hurt he was starting to become a pretty adept defender.

OMG he did my joke post!

Same dude just a second ago:
quote:

Yes correct. We play a lot of street ball. Rarely do you see the point guard hold up his hands organizing the players to get into position and run a play like Duke, or even Auburn. Yes we can score and yes we can shoot the 3, and we win a lot of games because we are way more talented than most. But I see us having trouble against a very solid defensive team like an Auburn, Duke, Iowa State if we don’t run efficient offense.

It's wild. Just wild.

But it may be my favorite thing to just unload 100 nuclear bombs on with a response, so, I encourage it

Dude thinks a team with 1 borderline first rounder is talenting their way to the #1 scoring offense in the country despite running around aimlessly, driving wildly into the paint, and chucking 3s. Truly one of the dumbest basketball takes I've ever seen.

ETA: He hasn't questioned if Sears has Down Syndrome has he?

Meanwhile Duke, who is inarguably less efficient on offense than us, is grinding it out with called plays and their talentless offense that has 3-4 1st round picks on it

Basketball is meant to be played the way Norman Dale taught it in 1950s rural Indiana and there's no way around it.

If you really want to blow their mind explain how we are top 3 in the country in ppg in the paint
