My SEC Predictions…..

National Title Good:
1. Alabama

F4 Good:
2. Arkansas
3. Ole Miss
4. Tennessee

2nd weekend Good:
5. Auburn
6. Florida
7. Kentucky
8. Texas A&M

NCAA Tournament:
9. Texas
10.Mississippi State

Bubble/NIT:
11. Mizzou
12. Georgia
13. South Carolina
14. Oklahoma

Awful:
15. Vandy
16. LSU

If I was a South Carolina fan and kept seeing Missouri ahead of us in the rankings (a popular take among rankings I've seen), I would lose my mind

After all the Jarin discussion the past couple of weeks, I thought for sure my sarcasm would be picked up on

Where is the redshirt talk for anyone coming from? I think Cunningham would be the most likely, if any.

Sherrell is probably the most important of those 3 to get back. Cliff's going to be way more effective if he's able to go 110% for 20-25 minutes instead of trying not to foul out in 30-35 minutes.

who is going to redshirt in your opinion? You don't think Reid or Naas is going to be redshirted from what you said this morning.

Naas will probably redshirt. It’s the one that makes the most sense. Redshirt most likely equal portal at the end of the season though

I didn't mention Naas this morning. I said Reid and Jarin aren't redshirting. Honestly outside of Naas I don't know who would be a candidate. Reid and Philon are too good to redshirt in my opinion. And I feel like you need Sherrill to spell Cliff at times or if he gets hurt.

Redshirting is for injuries and walk ons.

This. You are lucky if you have a guy stay on the roster for two years.

I don’t get people saying Aiden Sherrill. He is our backup 5. If we redshirt him and Cliff gets hurt we are in the same situation we were in last year with Grant at the 5. So Sherrill is not redshirting.

Naas and Aden Holloway?? But I can’t see Holloway redshirting.

I think Oats planned on it being Naas and Philon but Philon has surprisingly been so fkn good you just can’t.

Also if Youngbloods injury lingers until conference play you could medical redshirt him and have Him, Holloway, Sherrill, and Philon as the core of next years team

My player rankings:

1. Sears
2. Philon
3. Youngblood
4. Wrightsell
5. Cliff
6. Grant
7. Holloway
8. Reid
9.Houston Mallette
10.Mo D
11. Jarin
12. Sherrill(only bc haven’t seen him)
13. Naas

Not to sound like Bamagoat with the Jarin ranking but 1-11 have all been good. He’ll even Naas has been good.

It’s a tough decision, realistically Mo D or Jarin should be the 2nd redshirt IMO but that’s not gonna happen on either. And it’s nothing either of them have done wrong, They both have gotten better. The roster is just that strong.

Did anybody redshirt last year? At one point we needed Davin Cosby to go nuclear on the road

Personally I wouldn’t plan to redshirt anyone unless you can immediately tell it was a recruiting misevaluation. Kids aren’t going to stay in a program 4-5 years so a developmental year really doesn’t benefit the team.

It’s just the reality of the situation. Go and look at the box scores from conference play last year. It’s going to be about 9 maybe 10 guys that get minutes. If everyone’s healthy, 3-4 guys aren’t going to see the floor unless it’s garbage time or the early season cupcake games.

I liked what Oats said about this when referencing Kris Parker. Sometimes you just have to do right by the player.

Nelson is the interesting case. He ranges from being the 2nd most valuable player on the team to at times playing his way out of the line up. His perimeter shooting will likely always be at it's very best tolerable. But when he was fully tuned in and settled into games last year, he was really our 2nd most valuable piece against quality opponents.
