Good to see the US team playing strong against Serbia. It started a little rough, where they were out hustling us and got an early lead. But after a quick cage rattling, they stepped up and have sustained a nice lead. Up by 19 going into the 4th against a likely medal winning team.

Today is the 40th birthday for former @AlabamaMBB player Kennedy Winston, who played for the Crimson Tide from 2003-05 and helped lead his team to its first Elite Eight in the 2004 season.

Born July 29, 1984, in Prichard, Winston played prep basketball for Blount High School and earned “Mr. Basketball” and Gatorade state Player of the Year honors as a senior in 2002. Originally signing with the University of California, the school released him from his letter of intent when Winston decided to stay closer to home due to family health issues.

Winston then signed with Alabama and quickly became a starter, averaging 11.1 points his freshman season in 2002-03. As a sophomore, Winston made the first of two consecutive All-SEC teams and led the Crimson Tide to its deepest postseason run until this prior season.

Earning a No. 8 seed in the Phoenix/West Regional, Alabama survived Southern Illinois 65-64 before providing one of the biggest upsets in the 2004 NCAA Tournament when the Crimson Tide shocked No. 1-seeded Stanford, 70-67, in Seattle. Winston scored a game-high 21 points and had seven rebounds. In the Sweet Sixteen, Winston followed with 19 points as Alabama eliminated defending national champion Syracuse, 80-71, to become the first team in school history to reach the Elite Eight.

Leading the SEC in scoring with 17.9 points his junior year, Winston declared for the 2005 NBA Draft but went unselected and after a few free agent workouts decided to play internationally the next 11 years.

Good get. Thought he was the best guard on that USA U18 team that won the Americup last month.

Between Georgia’s football and basketball graduation rates are we even sure they have a college? What if they’re like that fake high school that conned everyone and played IMG a few years ago

I dont think ive ever seen a segment where national media spoke so highly of our basketball program. "Healthiest program in the nation" sounds pretty good.

Hey everybody. Longtime lurker, first time poster. Like a lot of you, I have been as much of an Alabama basketball fan as a football fan for as long as I can remember. I was lucky enough to be in Marks Madness during the first elite 8 era. I even got to work a Mark Gottfried summer camp one year (‘06 I think).

I watched a lot of the summer league and it was awesome to see a lot of our guys playing well- Keon was excellent, Clowney was solid, Aaron Estrada looked pretty good, and even Alex Reese was team-high scorer in a few games.

It’s an amazing time to be a Bama basketball fan

Here's a video from Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander from CBS. They are very high on our roster.

While they talk about our defense improving, I'm pretty certain it'll be better than 30-40 (which they say will be enough for us to be able to win a title). I think we'll be no less than top 20, probably top 10. We do well when there's an actual rim protector. Grant and Cliff are gonna be a dominant down low.

A nice lil nugget from Mac...

The $6mm number being thrown around for this years NIL is not accurate. The $6mm raised for NIL was for this years and next year. I do believe we have a little more than $6mm but not sure how much. The current team was in the $3mm - $4mm range but not $6mm.

Well what the hell are they spending my $19 a month at YeaAlabama on if they haven’t turned it into 6 mil? Didn’t they read about the guy who turned a paper clip into a house?

I mean Bernie Madoff went to Alabama for fricks sake. Use some of his tricks and get that money up!
