saw on Twitter where Philon has been cooking in practice!
Good way to become popular with his teammates and coaches. Most of these guys are scorers. We are gonna need some unselfish players. If we have anything close to a Herb Jones in this bunch, it is over for the rest of the SEC.

I applaud Oats for having a tough OOC schedule every season but this is too much of a good thing. Dial it back a notch, coach. We don’t have to take on the entire top 10. I guess the Lakers were booked up? It might be a little easier in the post season if Bama wasn’t beat up and worn out from playing the league plus the top teams in every other P5 conference.

Yep. Kinda like we did with Pannone. You're not going to steal a top assistant from an NBA team. But those staffs have tons of great coaching talent waiting for a big break.
Erik Spolestra was a video cut up guy for the scouting outfit in Miami and worked his way up to head coach there. The basketball knowledge in these good franchises like Boston or Miami, runs deep.

Jim Belein advocates cutting your own film as a way to learn the game.

I couldn’t disagree with your post any more than I do. Can’t wait for this out of conference schedule.

Yeah I used to think a few more buy games would be a good idea but I've changed my mind after last season. We were not a very good regular season team but our schedule kept us so high in NET that it really didn't matter and there was zero doubt we were making the tournament.

I remember a couple years ago Oats scheduled the Chinese national team and we took them to the woodshed with Brandon Miller. I would be fine with playing a good national team looking for an Olympic tuneup.

Will Riley to Illinois. Sucks we didn’t have a spot, this is an elite kid who I think we would have landed if he stayed in 2025

How did you guys do in the father/son basketball camp?
Anybody have to take a hot bath?

Didn't end up winning any of the competitions but had fun. Highlight of my day was knocking out one of our walk-ons in giant game of dribble tag. Good event - definitely doing it again next year. The facilities tour was pretty cool, and getting to watch the team practice was worth the camp fee.

Camp is going on so you can get in to watch practice. Houston, Wrightsell and Nelson still out with unknown injuries. Wrightsell participated in live shooting drills but that was it. Nelson looked pretty healthy and active by himself shooting but no live action. Not sure what’s going on w Houston but he only dribbled. Jasper Johnson 5* was in town and at practice. Smooth lefty that played w Philon.
Speaking of Philon is a gamer and facilitator it showed in scrimmage. His shot isn’t great but he made some. Seems to be a streaky shooter. Holloway can flat fill it up. Best shooter on team. Will see what happens when the lights come on but he pulled the trigger early and often from deep. Sears is Sears schooled everyone on drives. Reid stood out to me dude is gonna play alot . He has game on both ends. He didn’t back down and held his own. Mo was absent I heard playing for his country ??? Idk ?? Cunningham is a great athlete skinny ankle kid that can really move and jump. He also has a nice shot. Jarin looked like Jarin. Sherrill looks a tad taller than Cliff and thicker than I expected. He has wide shoulders and long. He took several 3s connecting on a few. Cliff is very athletic and long you can tell he has a great feel around the rim. Youngblood is a big strong kid that appears to be a good defender and I expect to get to the rim with his body. Holloway and Sears were going at it pretty good.
I expect intense competition in practice across the board. I think that’s about it. If you have any questions feel free to ask will let you know what I saw.

Okay, time for some safety netting, roll cages, and body harnesses for the golf cart Nate is riding in.
