Aub basketball fans have disappeared after last Friday. Where did everyone go?
My boss is a good guy, big AU hoops fan, hasn't said a word about the game or opened his door this week.

First I've ever heard of Grant being an oddball.

He never once looked happy at Alabama.
at least Avery acted the part and showed some emotion.

I don’t get replacing White with Grant. They are basically the same coach

Just watched live practice on twitter , have no idea what the poster who mentioned "major issues" is referring to. Smh i wonder sometimes if fans even understand what theyre seeing lol.

No, but I think this is probably because he's a bit of an introvert. A mid-major job is probably more his speed. Way less not basketball related bullshite you're going to be contractually obligated to do.

^^^ yea I can see that. Seems like a good guy regardless.
but glad he's gone! :)

this is a tough one. Which would you rather see happen Friday?
a) Auburn loses to Jax St
b) Texas Tech loses to Montana St
Montana St to win.
That gives us a path to the Sweet 16. I won't care what Auburn does because Kansas is coming out of that region anyways. I would like to see Alabama at least match last year's end result, would be a huge boost going into next season with all the talent we have coming in.

That's why Avery was hired (or I'm just giving Battle too much credit since Avery's camp approached him). Grant never really showed any energy and was kind of a PR nightmare because he didn't do many interviews and I remember him leaving many positive impressions. He was just quiet and to himself (nothing wrong with that).
Avery came out immediately with a lot of energy and looked actually happy to be the head coach and then got his old ESPN buddies to give him some love and put him on multiple shows for interviews to help promote the program.
Avery wasn't the best coach obviously but with Bama being a big name in football, Avery helped remind people that we play basketball down here too. That's what we needed at the time, well, that and Sexton coming to town.

You definitely are. Battle got very publicly humiliated by that psychopath Marshall and his trashy family. Avery was a desperation hire by a guy who was clueless about basketball.
Avery sucks at coaching but he's great at PR. I honestly wouldn't hate having him involved with the program in some capacity down the road if he'd be open to it. He still likes Alabama I think. It just didn't work out.

I will never forget the day of Gregg Marshall Watch when he was supposed to be coming to visit and I'm talking with friends at B Phil's about what this hire would mean and then boom, ESPN breaking news comes across the TV over the bar regarding his contract extension.
Oh well, worked out in the end.

Marshall was our basketball version of Rich Rodriguez except Avery was no Saban. Hopefully, Oats will be.

He could sell vehicles at Saban's Mercedes dealership.
Sorry. That was mean. He is a very nice person. Just a really bad coaching choice.

He has the recruiting down, we just have to see if he can keep the players consistent year in and year out. That’s Saban’s greatest ability.

Princeton transfer Jaelin Llewellyn (@13jaelin) has only been in the transfer portal for five hours, yet has already heard from over 20 programs, including Alabama, Arkansas, Ohio State, Clemson, Stanford, Georgetown, UNLV, and several others.

I saw that earlier. A lot of teams interested in him, doubt we get him based off that list.
Posted on 3/15/22 at 1:59 pm to YellaDog
What other program on that list fits him better than we do? Weve had 3 guards drafted in the lottery the last few years. We have a good or better shot at him than anyone

Is he a PG? Are we pinning our hopes on Davison coming back and running the point?
