That team was Frank Martin's dream. Absolutely horrendous OOC performance followed by a 12-4 conference record putting them on the bubble.
The Paradise Jam Tournament that year may have been the single worst tournament trip in Alabama basketball history

I remember watching that. I thought the last shot was going in for sure.
I liked Grant and hoped he'd get it done but he just wasn't the guy we needed.

Grant is a good mid-major coach. Did well at VCU and now he's doing well again at Dayton. He's just not willing to get his hands dirty enough to recruit the kind of talent you need to win in a P-6 conference.

NBA's Top Young Players: 10 More Under 25
Part 3: These 10 up-and-coming players just missed our Top 25 Under 25 list.
Last week, I updated my ranking of the top 25 players in the NBA under the age of 25.
There was, understandably, a lot of disagreement. It’s impossible on rankings like these to reach complete consensus, especially when we are projecting the futures of NBA rookies and sophomores against the current production of 23- and 24-year-olds.
“What about Player X?” was a common question. Yes, a number of very good young players just didn’t make the list. There were only 25 spots.
But to give those players and their supporters their due, I’m going to dive a little deeper today to look at 10 more up-and-coming prospects.
How we get our rankings
To qualify, players have to be in the NBA — while we love covering Scoot Henderson, Jabari Smith, Chet Holmgren and other top prospects outside the NBA extensively, they don’t qualify here. And we’re looking only at players who will be under the age of 25 at the resumption of the NBA regular season (February 24).
To get an accurate ranking, I combined two sources of information:
First, I used three analytics models (DARKO, LEBRON, and RAPTOR) to rate each player. Next to each player’s name, you can see his scores via the three models (D for DARKO, L for LEBRON and R for RAPTOR). Each system estimates how many points (positive or negative) the player contributes per 100 possessions.
Second, I asked a handful of NBA GMs and scouts to rate each player under 25. In particular, I asked them to think about the impact the players would have in the league by the time they are 24.
This is especially important to understand for younger players like Franz Wagner and Jalen Green (both age 20). In some cases, they are not yet better than some of the 23- and 24-year-old players below them on the list. But they are projected to be.
Using that methodology, here’s a countdown from players 35 to 26:
quote:
35. Herbert Jones
New Orleans Pelicans | 23 | L: 1.13 | D: 0.4 | R: 1.7
Previous Rank: NA
Lost in the Evan Mobley-Cade Cunningham-Scottie Barnes hype is the fact that the advanced stats suggest that Jones is the clear Rookie of the Year. He’s got a significant advantage over Mobley, Barnes and especially Cunningham in both LEBRON and RAPTOR and is a close second to Mobley in DARKO.
Why isn’t he getting the same love? First, Jones is significantly older, having turned 23 in early October, so he’s much closer to his ceiling already. Second, his counting stats look meh (9.5 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 2.1 apg, 1.5 spg and 34% from 3). Third, Jones’ dominance has come on defense, which doesn’t generate the same excitement.
In any case, Jones is a real find, the only player on this list taken in the second round, and exactly the sort of switchable wing who can defend multiple positions without being a liability on offense.
If the Pelicans make the play-in tournament, he’ll be a big reason.

yea, I had 9.5 in my head. It'll be more I bet but shouldn't be.

A&M is 0-4 on the road vs Top 50 teams but they've played pretty decent in all 4 of those games
- OT loss to Arkansas (though Arkansas was still figuring things out)
- 6 point loss @ LSU
- 10 point competitive loss @ Tennessee
- 17 point loss @ Auburn that was close for a while

Crimson Tide Women’s Basketball’s Brittany Davis Named to All-SEC Second Team
The senior guard led the Southeastern Conference in three-point field goals made and per game end of the regular season
Brittany Davis, University of Alabama women's basketball senior guard, was named to the All-Southeastern Conference Second Team, it was announced by the league office Tuesday.
Davis concluded the regular season as the SEC leader in three-point field goals made (77) and three-point field goals per game (2.85).
The senior has recorded double-digit points in 25-of-27 games this season, including 10 20-plus point games and two 30-plus point games. She has been on an electric streak of late, scoring at least 18 points in 11 of the last 13 contests.
Davis has also recorded five double-doubles this season, with three of those occurring in conference action. The 5-foot-9 guard has led the team in rebound average all season, too, adding 7.1 rebounds per contest.
The Manchester, Ga., native, who has reset her career high in three-point field goals made in a single game four times this season, has recorded 77 scores from long range in 2021-22. That number is ranked seventh on the program's all-time, single-season leaders list, while she is just 15 three-point field goals away from breaking the school record.
In her last game of the regular season against Vanderbilt Sunday, Feb. 27, Davis had her second 32-point performance in the last three games, after an impressive 11-of-13 from the field, including 8-of-9 from long range, with her eight three-point field goals tying a school record.
No Crimson Tide player has knocked down eight three-point field goals in more than a decade, since Ericka Russell did so at Arkansas Feb. 27, 2011. It hasn't been done at home in nearly three decades, since Betsy Harris did so against Auburn Feb. 16, 1994. Moreover, Davis' 88.9 percent from the arc in the game against the Commodores is the fourth-best, three-point field-goal percentage in program records.
Davis has set a career high in a handful of categories this season including points (32 2X), rebounds (12), assists (4 2X), steals (4), minutes (48), three-point field goals (8) and free throws (8).

No. 25/24 Alabama Hosts Texas A&M in Regular Season Home Finale
The No. 25/24 Alabama men's basketball team will host the final home game of the season when it welcomes Texas A&M to Coleman Coliseum in the lone meeting between the teams this year. The contest is slated for a 6 p.m. CT tipoff and will be televised on SEC Network.
This will be the first meeting between the two squads since Feb. 19, 2020 when the Aggies walked away with a 74-68 road win over the Crimson Tide. The teams were set to play last season, however, between an ice storm in Texas postponing the originally scheduled contest and the pandemic make-up games at the end of the season which prevented the two squads from squaring off in 2020-21.
The Crimson Tide owns a 12-9 edge in the all-time series with the Aggies, however, Texas A&M has won three consecutive and four of the last five games in the series. That includes two-straight wins in Coleman Coliseum, at the Aggies defeated the Tide 81-80 on Jan. 12, 2019 and 74-68 in the last meeting in 2020. The last time Alabama defeated Texas A&M in Tuscaloosa came on Dec. 30, 2017 (defeated then-No. 5 A&M, 79-57).
