Agree - and generally the opponent 2 PT fg% tells whether we are giving up easy buckets and/or easy 2nd chance pts.

Gary has averaged 8 minutes/game over the last 8 games and most likely would NOT start with who's staying or coming in next season.

Agreed that Miles is a toss up but his last two games, his minutes are seriously dropping and he's just not overly reliable. Considering the position he plays and with Burnett and Shack back and Miller, Griffin and others coming in, don't see Miles starting.

I have no problems being wrong. I like both guys and think they help the team. Just feel like they may want to be a starter with bigger minutes next year.

It really does just come down to guys roles on this team and what they want their roles to be in the future. And those 2 things might not match up. And there isn't a right or wrong answer.

let's not act like the mask and broken face didn't have something to do with that

Shack, Burnett, and Griffen play the 2. Miller will play the 4. Miles has every chance to start. I’m not sure why you’re expecting a 3 star developmental guy like Miles to be reliable right away. He’s a Herb type, will be terrific as a senior. And I expect him to start as a junior.

Guess I missed when MILES had a broken face and wore a mask.

He's played 2 years already.

Yes. Miles can play multiple positions. I just don't see him beating out one of the ones that might be on next year's roster at one of those spots.

He's not beating out whoever is there at PG.
He's not beating out Shack or Burnett at the 2. To be honest, there's a good chance that Oats would start Shack and Burnett together at the 2-3.
He's not beating out Gurley or Miller at the 4.
And he's not playing over Bediako at the 5.

There is a chance he could start in Keon's spot at the 3 if Oats doesn't want to start Shack and Burnett together but I doubt he starts one of those on the bench. I expect Burnett to fill more of Keon's spot. I know he's not as tall as Keon but he's an excellent defender.

It's not that big of a deal. There's a good chance that Oats will determine his line ups more on match ups anyway. I'm just saying that a player in his 3rd year at a program may not feel he's going to get enough minutes and decide to go elsewhere. Not saying I want him too.

The other thing to watch is with the NIL and immediate eligibility, he will likely get a lot of calls and suitors after the season offering him money and a guaranteed starting spot.

No big deal. I do it enough. I do agree the injury and mask has affected Gary though. I think now it's mostly confidence with him now that the mask is off.

For someone that's a borderline late 2nd round pick, he's too good to simply ignore the draft and decide to go overseas, but too borderline to bank on getting drafted. While I would bet on him leaving, there's many reasons I believe he should stay (at least at this point).

JQ is an undersized scoring Guard that will be 24 in whatever league he plays in next year. There isn't much he can really do to improve his draft stock anymore, realistically. Shack is in a bit different situation but even his draft prospects aren't much more promising. Shack could/should come back, JQ needs to go for it now.

This is going to be really interesting to watch. So he's only 6'4 but has a 6'10 wingspan, so he can easily guard the wing on the other team.

Was Herb reliable his first two years? Or Petty?

I like how you didn’t mention anyone at the 3. He’ll likely start there next season. Doubt Burnett starts coming off an ACL tear and being slightly undersized for a 3.

Ideally for me I’d like to see Bradley, Shack, Miles, Miller, and Bediako start. Great mix of shooting, ball-handling, and defense.

Guess you missed the 3 right here. Hell, you even posted my quote. Burnett is my 3. AND I also said the spot Miles MIGHT could start or pull more minutes was the 3 spot.

Also, show me where Miles has Herb's work ethic? We never know if we're going to get motivated Miles or "James Franco's Pineapple Express" Miles.

True. His wingspan helps him fill Keon's spot better. And he's shown himself to be a reliable defender.

I can't speak for someone else, but when he's talking about Miles not being reliable I think it has to do with the fact that he's a frequent resident of the proverbial doghouse. Herb definitely never had that issue, and Petty really just needed to go there once to get the message.

Oats just confirmed that Snowden won’t be the strength coach anymore. They are having a kid and he is moving closer to his family

Saturday was his last game. Said a football guy that’s been around the basketball program before will take over for now
