State, Carolina or A&M.

You never know with this team, but those teams are terrible and I feel pretty confident we beat all three at home.

@UK @ Vandy @LSU
Would love to go 2-1 but wouldn’t be shocked at 1-2.

Alabama Holds Off Red-Hot Hogs 68-67

Noah Gurley scored two clutch buckets in the final two minutes to beat Arkansas, snapping the Razorbacks nine-game winning streak.

Alabama Basketball's Freshmen Are Coming Into Their Own

J.D. Davison, Charles Bediako, and Jusaun Holt are growing up right in front of Alabama fans' eyes.

Extremely frustrating to be up 7-10 points the whole 2nd half and then piss it away the final 2 minutes. Happy we won, but Arkansas could have easily won on that last play. We just can’t get out of our own way with these stupid turnovers. I’m loving the shift some our guys are putting in but some of these TO’s are unbelievable.
Anyone have info on TyTy for Kentucky? I read he got an X-ray but I’m not sure the results

One report said he could be out for "a week or two" but nobody really knows yet.

I'm more worried about stopping Iverson Molinar. I assume Oats will use a similar defense that he used on Notae. If we can stop Iverson, MSU doesn't have a whole lot else they can do.

We are extremely lucky Notae decided to shoot a fall away 3 pointer when he didn't have to. We hadn't stopped him going to the rim the whole half. Thanks for that.

Not saying we should bench him, but I would feel FAR more comfortable with having JD close in the final few minutes over JQ in close games at this point. I'm not sure what has happened to him this year, but he has a very disturbing trend of imploding late when he's needed most.
They're both possible liabilities in crunch time (and before!).
The stupid turnovers that each made starting with JD.s pass at around the 7 minute left mark that started the implosion, then JQ's backcourt violation appear to either be a loss of focus, or a lack of intelligence, or both!....and that's scary.
We probably just need to face the fact that Alabama doesn't have a #1 who can be trusted to run the show at a crucial time.
PS- By the way, who else noticed that the 2 short-range jumpers by Gurley (not 3-pointers, or points at the rim) won the game for us?

Yes. Oats said on post game interview with SEC network when asked about the "diamond and one" defense (or box and one) that he used it because Charles did not have a good man D matchup. Maybe he has a better match up with Tolu Smith, but we covered Notae well, especially on that last shot, and I think Molinar is just as good as he is. However, last time, Miss State killed us with offensive rebounds, and we have had a hard time getting defensive rebounds out of a zone.

Until SOMEBODY literally makes them boxout on the defensive board, it won't change.

Maybe if Gary gets some more minutes our rebounding will improve. Is he gonna have to wear that mask all year?

Absolutely. Not looking past state. Tolu Smith will give us fits if he stays out of foul trouble. I think he fouled out pretty early when we played them earlier this year. Hopefully the students bring a good environment on Wednesday. If we can just get our fair share of rebounds and not turn the ball over as often we should handle state. We have a good team. The problem is the 2-5 minutes of each half where we sabotage ourselves

No no, anything between the actual rim itself and the 3pt line is a mid-range shot. Oats definitely discourages bigs from taking shots at the edge of the restricted area.

Coach would prefer more 17 footers at the end of the shot clock like the good ole days.

Rockie, why do folks on the Arkansas board hate us so much? We hate Muss but I didn’t think the fanbases hated one another

I just scanned it and it's mostly STLHog. He seems to hate us with the same fire that Fever hated Muss.
