So Bama had a very successful season in BB for ONE year and our fanbase think we're going to be able to duplicate that over and over?
I give our fanbase more credit than this when it comes to BB.

My gosh, can you imagine this thread during some of the Gottfried years? fricking pitchforks and knives out at all times.
I mean, I vividly remember my own personal verbal threads during Gottfried games. They were not healthy.

Oats on trying to find the answers … seems he is puzzled too
I mean, it's pretty clear he has no clue what the hell to do with them at this point.
Something will spark them or it won't. If losing last night (after losing/playing the same way previous nights) with 3 games against Top 10 teams coming up doesn't snap them out of it..........it's not happening.

I think a lot of these expectations are self-inflicted. Any team that can go out to Seattle and whip Gonzaga then beat Houston can hang with anyone in the country. But then you lose to Georgia?? That's just unfathomable. If these guys get their heads screwed on straight, they are scary good. But if you keep your head up your arse, you're looking at a#1 seed in the NIT. They have to decide, Oats or me or you can't do it for them.

If he hangs around , Oats, will turn it around.
He is a good coach and a great fit for us. Hope he stays for awhile.
He’s just not as experienced as the top coaches in the game. He will get there. Could use some motivational courses from Coach Saban.

Just want to drop this in here
This season has been frustrating and about as bad as it could be, but these seasons happen in basketball, especially since transfers started being more prominent 5-7 years ago. Everyone has seasons like this. Literally everyone.
- Tony Bennett (Virginia) is currently 12-8
- Juwan Howard (Michigan) is currently 9-7
- Calipari (Kentucky) went 9-16 in 2021
- Pearl (Auburn) went 13-14 in 2021
- Krzyzewski (Duke) went 13-11 in 2021
- Tom Izzo (Michigan St) went 15-13 in 2021
- Matt Painter (Purdue) went 16-15 in 2020
- Roy Williams (North Carolina) went 14-19 in 2020
- Rick Barnes (Tennessee) went 17-14 in 2020
These guys are all (or were with Williams) Top 25 coaches in college basketball. They've all had a non-NCAAT (many losing) season in the last 3 years.
This season sucks at this moment and it really sucks to watch. It's also something that happens to everyone, regardless of how consistent and great a coach they are. Oats has less of a track record than most of these guys, so clearly a repeat would be a very bad sign, but in the era of transfers and one and dones, your roster can turn over into something you can't fix pretty quickly with just 1-2 unexpected transfers and/or injuries.
It is what it is. We just gotta grit our teeth and grind through it and hope it stabilizes some this year and starts fresh next year.

Honestly, it's hard to even care about what happens in the next 3. Say we win 1 or even 2 of them........then what? That doesn't tell us anything.
To me winning 2+ would confirm what we already know: we play to the level of our competition. While that makes for an unbelievably frustrating regular season, it does bode well for the post-season.
However, losing all 3 could be a sign that this team has given up on itself. I'm interested in what will happen, because at this point you can't call it a fluke like we could with the Mizzou loss. UGA has been one of the worst high-major teams in the country, and was our worst regular season KenPom loss of all time. Are they going to wake up or just roll over dead?

So are we now in the post-melt, "this is fine" stage of the abusive relationship between us and Alabama basketball?
Posted on 1/26/22 at 6:08 pm to Chadaristic
We’ve got a great recruiting class coming in but I hope we are active in the portal but land a couple guys who will actually help. Maybe rely less on HD Intelligence and their analytics on who to go after and more on gut feeling.

Bamafan is already posting on Twitter essentially guaranteeing a win Saturday. He’s moved well into the optimism stage. I’m not there yet. Not sure I will.

For me it's not really "this is fine" as much as it is me just not being pissed that the square peg still isn't going in the round hole. I'm not giving up on the season by any means, but I also don't really know what to expect from game to game so i'm just riding the wave without any real expectations unless there is a drastic change in performance. I just hope that some valuable experience comes from this season for the staff and the players that will be returning next season.
