Keon doesn’t even have to be a primary creator, because we’ll almost always have 2 of JQ, JD, and Shack out there.

But he’s good enough at it to be a really nice secondary creator. If teams close out too hard on him when he’s at the 3 point line, then he can pump and drive (and either score or make another pass).

It’s difficult to overstate how hard it should be to guard us in the moments when we roll out the four guards and a big. For most teams, the options will be: hope we miss, hope we turn it over, outscore us because we’re too small.

That Sports Illustrated Fan Nation website, is that basically a blog site, or actual writers creating an si version of a team site?

It’s one of the few sites that consistently covers Bama. Having said that, many of their articles are built around press conferences and press releases from UA. Not much I would consider ‘investigative reporting.’ Earlier this year they added a pay wall to some of their content, but I haven’t seen anything from SI that would compel me to pay to read. As one who searches for all things Bama, the sites are hard to come by. For the sports other than Football and Basketball, it’s pretty much limited to RollTide.com.

I remember rotations not so long ago where you'd look on the court and see 1 guy capable of scoring. Now there are very few combinations with fewer than 3

And all of them can score off the dribble, from 3 on the catch OR effectively dish off when the defense collapses.

If you have 3 of those guys in Oats offense......shooooo buddy. Good luck, defense.

This is why I'm curious to see how our pick and roll action with our bigs develops over the next month or so. I saw some competency with it last night, especially from Bediako and KAH, and if you add that element to our offense I'm really not sure there's any way to consistently slow us down. That's too much to have to defend.

The good:
~The effort/intensity
~The student section (wow, didn't see that coming)
~great W over a team that'll win 20.
~overall atmosphere

The bad:
~If you are going to charge $8 for a coke, it should not be flat (returned it and got a second flat coke)
~The student ramming my car before the game, thought he had his car in drive and it was in reverse, arghhhh.
~The ticket app didn't work. Make sure you move your tickets to the applet wallet before you get close to the arena. It would not work inside the arena, had to get my tickets printed. Then the guy behind the window at 'tickets' didn't have permission to print the tickets so another long wait.
~Moved all handicapped parking to the soccer field. Why install new entrances into the Coliseum parking and at the same time remove most of that parking? My stepfather really struggled making those walks. Makes no sense.
~Gurley struggled after missing his first two shots and getting a few ticky tack fouls. He'll be fine though, certainly looks the part.

Great win!!

I'm not accustom to us having such an embarrassment of both quality AND quantity!..looks like something Duke or Kansas would run out on the floor!
If Oats can get them to play together as a smooth, interchangeable, unselfish unit (easier said than done), he should have a monster capable of running ANY team out of the gym on any given night!
I'm thinking that this season is gonna be fun!

Brother, as Alabama basketball fans, we've grown accustomed to the darkness.

I almost still can't believe it myself.

Roll Tide, my friend. Good days are ahead.

Do you guys think Tchikou gets a lot of minutes? I feel like he is one of the most skilled on the team but doesn’t seem like he does the intangible stuff Oats likes.

I haven't heard anyone except fans mention him. I doubt he contributes much this year, barring some injuries. Maybe in a year or two if he sticks around.

I would almost encourage you make a new category called "The ugly" and move parking into that one.

We sat in a line just to get into a mostly empty Tide Pride parking lot for what seemed like 30 minutes (even after getting there wayyy early), and I know there had to be hundreds of people still outside when the game started.

One the most inefficient, ridiculous parking setup and coordination efforts that I can recall.

And while I'm on a tear, we seriously need to address the scoreboards in Coleman. I would love a dedicated screen with more stats and maybe scores from around the country. What little bit they show was hilariously wrong last night—for most of the evening they were indicating a combined 80-something turnovers, LA Tech with 100% FT percentage, and other odd figures.

yep, how could they be so wrong?

I liked the 53 bench points at halftime when we only scored 48 overall. Turn it off if something is broken. It wasn't working.

Oof, yeah they got away with a few.

I just want us to have our bigs involved in the offense beyond setting screens and scoring on putbacks. I think the potential for it is there. KAH looks like he's developing pretty well and Bediako would have had a much better game last night if the refs hadn't fricked him a couple of times. He's got some skills though. That dump off to JD was not something you'd expect out of a freshman big. Most of them would have taken the contested shot.

I bought a $60 parking pass for which I hoped would be for the B Lot, where I have parked in recent years, but it was for the "Capstone Deck" across 10th/ BB Drive from the baseball field. When we got there, the guard was just waving everybody in, no pass checking, and we had to go to the very top to find a place. When we got to the former (apparently) B lot, it was almost empty! The former A lot was almost full. Huh? I know the new flyover road took out about two rows of parking places in the B lot, but it was empty!! Why buy a deck spot when the guy just doesn't even check. I'll be scouting around for some of my old good spots along 12th and 13th streets before going to that deck again.

Gurley was the only player I would say had a bad game. But like others, I'm not worried. Oats had him starting for a reason. I'm sure it was first game jitters. He's pretty never played in front of a home crowd like that.

KAH looked better from last year, but is definitely still raw. He'll get much more time this year, coming off there bench.

Bediako showed his potential. Foul trouble hurt, but you can see what he'll bring to the table. It's going to be fun watching his development. He will not be a 4 year guy, imo.

Parking for highly attended events at Coleman has been horrible for years now. Can only imagine how bad it is now with the new bridge from 15th St.

I usually just park at Druid City Brewing and walk from there.

I will say the buses from the soccer fields to the Coliseum were very efficient.
