It's coming...I overreacted plenty of times this season. I feel like we will PEAK at the right time.

Honestly I think we need to consider a JD/Ellis/Miles 1-3 at this point. No matter what we do at PG that position is a defensive liability, so compounding it with another backcourt player who is equally bad if not worse isn't helping matters.

The only problem I have with that is Shackelford was kind of our engine when it comes to playing our best games so far this year. We have to hope he turns it around because our shooting has been a big problem and his turnaround is our best chance for a solution.

Also, with having Shackelford and Quinerly coming off the bench, we'll have the same issues we're having right now defensively, but simply later in the game unless you plan on cutting heavily into one or the other's minutes.

I'd propose a similar lineup with JD at point, Shack at the 2, Ellis at the 3, Miles at the 4, and Gary at the 5. Gary was awesome for us at the 5 last year when given the opportunity. That small ball lineup will give us the greatest opportunity to ramp up our defensive pressure, force TO's, and become incredibly switchable on defense.

I'm not saying it's something to do all the time. Not a starting lineup. Just a lineup to use at some point during the game. We seem dedicated to always having 2 of JQ, JD, and Shack on the floor, and I'm just not convinced that it's necessary at this point. Like I said, we seem to only have a couple of lineups that are actually pretty good on both ends. It's time to start trying some different things IMO. Nothing to lose at this point.

Who would you play in place of them? If you think the offense is bad now imagine taking the only life out of it.

Ellis at the 2 instead of Shack with JD running the offense. Maybe it ends up being a bad offensive lineup. I don't really know. I don't think it's destined to be though. Of our 3 guards I think JD is the least prone to being a ball stopper, so he could make that kind of a lineup work the best, but it's obviously contingent upon him continuing to improve his ball security.

CBB Analytics - Heat Zone Map

January Shooting Chart - yikes

So we are shooting 28% from 3PT (bad) and are 7% under D1 average shooting at the rim (bad).

Other than that - how was the play Ms Lincoln?

IMO, there are a couple of combos that needs to be limited that would help a lot.

1. Gary and Bediako on the floor at the same time at the 4 and 5. This is our starting lineup and it needs to stop because it limits us offensively and leads us to slow starts. If Gary is at the 4, Gurley needs to be at the 5. If Bediako is at the 5, Gurley or Miles need to be at the 4. You can also throw Rojas in here. If Rojas is the 4, Gurley needs to be the 5. If Rojas is the 5, Gurley or Miles need to be the 4.

2. JD/JQ/Shack on the floor at the same time. This lineup puts us in a hole defensively, and hasn't provided enough offensive firepower to make up for it.

My personal starting 5 right now would be:

1. Quinerly
2. Ellis
3. Miles
4. Gurley
5. Bediako

This is the best offensive/defensive combo, IMO. It gives us the most length for rebounding and defensive cover behind Quinerly for his deficiencies, while still providing 4 guys who can drive or hit from outside of the JQ/Bediako screens.

It also allows Gurley to be a secondary screener, which can open up lobs to Bediako when a 3rd guy tags the Gurley screen.

We REALLY need to win these next 3 starting tonight. A 14-6 (5-3) record going into our game against Baylor would be good.

These next three games will determine whether we have a winning season or losing season.

I'm seeing Bama as 4 point favorites. Is LSU missing somebody? Its weird being a team that's feels overrated by Vegas' metrics

Not really, home game in conference play with similar records. Things also get a little blown outta proportion on here. We truly are a good team with arguably the best win in the country, just going through a rough stretch atm.

He’s been out a couple weeks, if anything him being a game time decision would bring the spread down closer to their favor.
