I think we expected Gary to be a defensive force, but Bediako has been the real eye opener for me. His per 40 averages are incredible.

This team has room to get so much better as Bediako and Davison come into their own. Its an exciting spot to be in

Yeah, I wasn't expecting Bediako to already be as good of a "basketball player" on the defensive end.

However, I was also one of those not sure too about Gary being a great fit when Oats came in. Needless to say that seems pretty dumb in retrospect.

When Pearl had the Final Four team at Auburn, the guards got much of the credit but the way they frustrated good teams was due to the "hard hat" plays their interior guys made defensively.

Glad Oats seems to follow the idea that it's a lot easier to make those devastating 9-0 type mini runs when you're only needing to shoot 3-5 from the arc because a Gary and Bediako are getting turnovers and blocks on the other end.

I was right there with you - undersized, non-shooting PF type. He seemed like a possible transfer, but he's definitely carved out a space for himself.

Don't forget we have Rojas back when the SEC starts. I still hold out hope for Tchikou I can't see wasting a 6'11 guy as athletic as he is.

Rookie Josh Primo had 4 blocks in the loss to the Suns. He is the third youngest player in NBA history with 4+ blocks in a game.

Add me to your list. I had serious doubts but I can admit I was totally wrong.

Pretty much accepted that Tchikou isn’t going to see the floor this year unless it’s garbage time and probably isn’t on the team next year. Will be pleasantly surprised if I’m wrong though

That's where I'm about at now as well, hopefully, we get to see him in more garbage time soon before conference play starts

That could certainly be the case. However, keep in mind that Gary was not averaging a lot of minutes at this point last year. Obviously, he was still ahead of where Tchikou is. I’m just saying, you never know.

We were very close to being forced to use him at Gonzaga, another whistle or two and Oats might not have had a choice.

I was actually surprised they didn't use him for a short time, which makes me think they have no intention of playing him at all.

I think Tchikou was probably more of a project than most people thought. Then the injury kept him sidelined for a year. I know we've speculated he's in the dog house, but just judging from the interaction I saw between him and Oats after the Gonzaga game, there doesn't seem to be any hard feelings between them. They were both laughing and smiling with Tchikou's arm around Oats' shoulder.

So, I think he's just not ready. If he has the talent people thought, I think he'll be back.

*Not saying he isn't or wasn't in the dog house. Just saying he doesn't seem to be moping about it, if he is.

I noticed that as well, team chemistry feels very solid.

Please… he’s great this week, but the next time he goes 3-12 from deep with a few wild plays at the basket and a negative A/TO ratio, he’s going to be a selfish ball hog again.

This is the way

You’ll have all day to get your shopping done, or even go to a Christmas party before the game. Take a nap if you have to, or get your tickets in someone else’s hands if you can’t go. But we need seats filled and this team deserves a packed house. Top 15 battle Saturday night!
