Houston is a better defensive team than Iona. If we play like we did tonight we might not hit 40.
We are a top 25 team, im not questioning that. But these early season losses and the same struggles hurting us over and over in games we probably should win are a slight area of concern.

I obviously don’t know for sure, I just have my opinion. My opinion is that for some reason, we’ve felt the need to change our approach for Iona. Based on how Oats talks about Pitino, seems like to me we are putting his teams up on some god-level like we’d be lucky to beat them. I have no idea why we would act like that. Again, just my opinion, and it could be wrong.

When your 2 guards are 7-15 from the FT line against a tough team(and Iona IS), you're gonna be in trouble. This game should help them tremendously down the road.

Iona just played our no shooters tight and let us drive the lane. It's like they know we have some guys that can't finish at the rim and will basically turn it over

Ellis and JD have to become aggressive on offense. If they don't, this offense is gonna struggle against good team defense.
When they don't, Shack starts driving. He's the least efficient driver AND it takes him away as an outside catch and shoot threat - a double whammy.

We didn't play well and lost a close game against a hall of fame coach. Those of you that thought we were going to win all these games set yourself up for failure. These games will help us in March. You don't get better by not facing adversity.

Pitino didn't have his off guards help on the ball drive very much. It cut out alot of the drive and kick for the open 3. It caused our driving guard to finish which we struggled with.

Meh, expecting to win all your games against sub-100 teams is pretty reasonable.
Expecting to sweep Houston, Memphis and Gonzaga isn't.

Big difference between winning all the games, and winning the games you are heavily favored in and could be losses that keep your out of tournament selection time

This immediately kills our offense. Every time. Shack is good when he's shooting from outside. He's awful when he's trying to get his own shot. And honestly at this point it's either let it keep happening or bench him. Because he's not going to stop doing it.
