It's possible, but I don't know how you can say something like "I can't see us getting past the Sweet 16". Could we run into a bad matchup in the S16 and not respond? Absolutely. Is it definite or even probable? No.

We’ll see. I hope you’re right.

Sucks we lost our first game at number one and will only spend a week there. I know it doesn’t matter come March but it was still cool being ranked at the top. This was almost as frustrating as that debacle in Utah the last time we were ranked number one

I mean me being right doesn't mean we don't lose, my point is that you are saying you see "no way" we get past the Sweet 16.

I don't agree with that.

Automatic Turnover Machine
Quinerly feels he should be in the NBA alongside Jones and those guys so whenever and wherever he gets the ball it's look what I can do Punchinello and so far that has been turn the damn ball over to the opponents time after time. The ATM is probably one of the most gifted dribblers in college basketball when he's not being guarded by anyone. From the moment he stepped on the court this year he's been handing out passes for the other team to get in fast break transition. Maybe he's gonna play like a veteran down the stretch, who knows but I wouldn't put my bank card in that ATM. Absolutely not!

Lunardi dropped us 1 spot to the 2nd overall seed. Purdue back to 1st (after 2 recent road losses to worse teams than Tennessee)

The only times Sears mid major pedigree creeps up is in games like this. He can get physically removed from the game on offense when we aren't free flowing, because he can't really do much against elite defenders one on one.

He isn't hyper athletic like a lot of D1 guards. And it is glaringly obvious when he's trying to play against a guy as quick and physical as Zeigler. They immediately put him on Sears everytime he was in the game, and there was nothing he could do. He could never find an inch to breathe. Though the fouling they let them get away with didn't help.

Sears is an excellent college player who has found a way to strain the limited physical gifts he has to their max. But he is going to struggle against athletic guards that can sit down on D and prevent him from creating space.

It's why we had Quinn in there so much, his quickness was the only thing that stood a chance. He just had a tough game adjusting to the physicality. Griffin isn't a good enough ball handler to help out as the SG if you leave Bradley in at PG. Neither is Burnett.

Honestly, our best lineup may have been to go Bradley, Miller, Gurley, Pringle, Clowney. Gurley's experience would have been helpful, and I think he should have played more. Pringle effort matched theirs. then Clowney, Miller and Gurley can shoot. Plus you have the pick and roll drive/lob game with Bradley and Pringle.

Or we could not run into one of those teams on a night where the officials let the game go and swallow their whistle and blitz everyone on the way to the final four.

Bingo. If we have normal officiating, we would have been living at the line. One team took full advantage of the whistle with their physical defense while the other team whose biggest strength is defending without fouling was rendered pretty much useless tonight.

We also quite literally have a street fight road win against the 3rd ranked team in basketball

This is why I think AP poll voting is useless. Without a doubt Houston will be ranked #1 next week, and they've shown nothing in conference play to deserve it other than losing only one game to a shitty team. All the rankings are based off winning/losing and initial placement and the SOS has next to no weight to it. The fact that we were #1 by barely edging out UH in votes given we had one more loss on a schedule that was near 100 spots better in SOS with a win AT Houston tells you all you need to know.

The bracket folks more heavily weight the resume instead of the W/L column. That bodes very well for us.

A win over Texas Southern by 1 is worth way more to AP voters than a loss to Texas by 1.

If aTm bounces back and wins this game tonight against Arkansas, our SEC lead becomes very precarious.
Their schedule sets up favorably with their 2 toughest games remaining at home, and their 3 weakest on the road.

Their schedule the whole year has been set up very favorably. Those 2 toughest games remaining are their toughest games period. They are against the unquestionably best two teams in the league, and they're catching them both at home.
