Basketball World Beware, Alabama Basketball Chasing History (SI)
The Crimson Tide may have a proud basketball tradition, but Nate Oats' latest team could end up being the best in program history as it starts to eye March Madness.

Someone mentioned it earlier, but the fact that we're talking about a #1 seed for the second time in 3 years instead of starting up our annual bubble watch is fricking great.

And the fact that the season inbetween was an absolute failure..........
................that resulted in #6 seed in which we weren't even within sight of the bubble for a single day the entire season.
We haven't sat through bubble talk in February/March since we beat LSU at home and sat at 14-11 (6-6) back in Nate's first year (and then lost at home to A&M the next game).

In 2020 we spent all conference play clawing up the Seed List after a mediocre OOC performance
This year we could reasonably lock up at worst a 2-seed before the end of February. Crazy stuff

Before Oats we made the tournament 2 times in 14 years, kind of hard to believe after the success we had with Wimp, and Gottfried to a much lesser extent.
This will be three years in a row Oats has us in the tournament, and two as a top 2 seed fingers crossed.
Yes it does feel fricking amazing, let's keep it going.

but that is mostly predicated on them getting Smith back.
Smith really has no incentive to come back. He's but even with the team, but in LA. Dudes already signed with Lebron's people. Without playing he's still an early lottery pick.

If we're being honest though, that TO was called WAY too late.
agreed. When they cut it to 6, a timeout should've been called immediately. I was screaming at the tv. He had 3 left with only 5 minutes remaining. USE THEM!
That's always been my only two complaint with Oats. He's always late to call a timeout.

no line yet on our game. Vegas must be confused. They can't keep beating everyone by 19, right? What do we do?

700 hardhats and no arena builders to wear them. What a waste.
