I watched the second half today and it's only the second game I've seen any part of all year.
I don't know if Alabama's any good or not, but Auburn is downright terrible. That was a beating that didn't feel as close as the final score - and Bama won by 31.

What seed would guarantee Alabama plays opening round games in Birmingham? 4 seed or better right?
A couple of factors.
The top team in the area will get Birmingham. Perhaps Tennessee could get it, but there are also games in Greensboro and Columbus, OH that Tennessee goes to.
As long as we stay ahead of Auburn, that could be enough.

Arkansas down to 22 after losing @Auburn seems like a bit of an overreaction.

I'm not the biggest Torres guy but I do remember the day Oats was announced as HC he was our biggest fan of the hire. He was on someone's radio show and was gushing over his potential of him in Tuscaloosa. He did make some good points but it's stuff we already know, this is a very balanced and talented team and unless we're turning the ball over a lot then you have to have your A game to beat us.
The freshmen are getting better every week and by the time March rolls around, they're not going to be as nervous as other young squads because of what they've already experienced this season in hostile environments and big neutral-court matchups. What will be the difference between a second-weekend exit and a trip to Houston is going to be our health for the rest of the season and turnover rate. One of the key stats that every tournament preview uses is TO%, getting that rate down a bit is going to be huge come March.
Can't wait for Wednesday.

Those Phil Knight Invitational tournaments look now like they were stacked.
6 of those top 12 teams were there: Alabama, Purdue, UConn, Gonzaga, Iowa State, and Xavier. And that doesn't include the blue bloods of Duke, UNC, and Michigan State that were also there.

I love your take and I agree with the experience being gained moving forward. My only concern is that, I hope the stage is not too big come tournament time. Great potential for this team.

When we opened the game at Missouri last year in zone, that was the worst display of defense I’d ever seen.
Zone or man, last year's team was terrible at playing any defense. With this team's length and athleticism, they're much more capable of playing a zone.
Edit: of course this has been said 2-3 times before I posted it.

After Forcing Kentucky to "Burn the Tape", Alabama Basketball Must Maintain Momentum (SI)
The Crimson Tide must maintain both team chemistry and mentality in order to ensure that its best basketball is still ahead of it this season.

Sparty is finally getting it going. That'll be a Q1 soon.

Why would Cal NOT watch the tape? He should sit down with Tschibwe and study that pick and roll we ran on him to open the game, then teach him how to play against it. We ran a clinic on Kentucky. They should be studying what happened to get better.

He's a college senior who has played for two extremely successful coaches in Huggy Bear and Cal. They've tried. He's just not athletic enough to do it.
