quote:We would absolutely lose to every team left in the tournament. We've averaged barely 20% from 3 since the UGA game, which I’m fairly certain makes us dead last in the nation. We were a solid, but not good team the last two months. Basically a slightly better version of Mississippi State.
We would roll FAU too. Man this loss is gonna linger for a bit.

Looking forward to UConn-Gonzaga, seeing another good game with two good teams both hitting clutch shots deep in the tournament. We all know that will never describe Alabama.

Final Four surprises happen…it’s basketball!! Remember George Mason…let’s do a case study on their coach:
Jim Larrañaga
1) 12 seasons as D1 college assistant before becoming a head coach - Oats? 2
2) years as D1 coach prior to making Final Four…19 (11 at Bowling Green and 8 at GM) - Oats? TBD but has 8 so far
3) what’s happened since final four? 18 years without another one, although he can get the 2nd if Miami wins tomorrow (6 at GM and 12 at Miami)
Final 4 flukes happen, but final 4s are hard to come by. NCs in Bball even more so. You guys really need to get some perspective on how Basketball success works (see previous posts in this thread about years it took HOF coaches).
If Oats leaves us, it might be melt time. Right now, we should be really excited about the future while disappointed with the loss. Anything else is an emotional melt that ignores rational thought.

I would like to see Oats or someone come up with some DIFFERENT offensive plays that get shooters open. Seems we run the same play over and over. Would have liked to have seen Miller run some iso from the top of the key rather than Q all the time!
I’m not just saying this because I want him to come back but I think Miller really could benefit from another year of college ball.
Disappointed in the outcome but very happy to be where we are now!!

Few bitching about travel calls on Timme is hilarious.

We had a 9 point lead in the second half and would be playing FAU in the final four if we bear Creighton. Damn man. Damn

CPA, I typically really enjoy your posts, humor, etc.
But right now you sound like a redheaded step child AU fan who thinks they will never have nice stuff and even when they get it, someone will take it away (like Big Brother Bama).
We are Bama! If things aren’t going well, we keep spending money until we figure out how to fix it. May take us a while and possibly several coaching attempts, but we’ll figure it out eventually.
I had 4 FB coaches in 4 years while at the capstone and never melted this hard. We eventually found Saban and the rest is history. We may struggle next year in Bball, but Oats is an incredible coach who could change the program substantially in the next 10 years (not to the extent Saban changed FB, but who could).
Brother, things will be ok. Don’t stoop to Aubarn’s level of abused stepchild.
Edit: changed to Aubarn to clarify I wasn’t referring to antibarner

It wasn't long ago both Uconn and Gonzaga were nobody programs the someone built it. It took time and effort.

I went through the Dark Ages after Bryant myself. If Nate Oats gets us in the tourney enough we will break through.
This team was young overall long but not big and physical teams pushed us around.
Bediako and Pringle return very likely and with time in the weight room and work in the gym they could easily bulk up enough to offset a lot of this and not lose any effectiveness. Not to mention become better offensively.

Lot to look forward to, including replacing two assistants.

Looking at these teams play shows you that you need to utilize some kind of mid range shot to keep defenses honest. It forces teams to defend the whole floor. I love the way UConn attacks from an aerial assault. All over the floor.

Wonder how Oats feels about the Twain quote, "There 3 kinds of falsehoods: lies, damn lies, and statistics."

Lol statistics can definitely lie

Yea with some time and hindsight collectively everybody is going to realize how awesome it is that we have won the regular season and tournament SEC titles in two of the last three seasons, and gotten to the Sweet 16 both of those years. That’s a 3-year run our basketball program rarely (ever?) achieves. The big tournament is a bit of a crapshoot, but give yourself enough good cracks at it and we’ll break through.

Out of the 9 guys that get the most minutes for SDSU 7 are seniors and 2 are juniors. Pretty crazy.
