Looking at bracketology…..we are gonna be stuck with an 11 seed Gonzaga in the 2nd round aren’t we?

Wouldn't worry about that stuff right now. Get as high a seed as you can and hope the bracket builders give you likely favorable matchups through the region.
Last year Alabama had an incredibly easy first weekend but their second weekend was going to be full of matchup issues. Being a team with smaller guards and two freshmen forwards, we were getting two mismatch-y teams with length, physicality, and experience no matter what after the Birmingham rounds.
I'm hoping this year we catch a bracket with teams who either lack competent interior offense from their bigs or they have other deficiencies on offense that allows Oats to mitigate our interior defense problems.

a hellacious OOC schedule. They're tougher than most of these SEC teams that still schedule like just contriving 20 wins any way possible
I personally agree with Oats' approach (also enjoy it as a fan), because I think it lets you know early what you have, and what your weaknesses are, but I wonder if anyone has ever calculated actual metrics on OOC SOS vs. "success" in the conference, or the NCAAT?
I mean it has to be better long-term vs. rent-a-wins, right? Or does it?
As analytical as Oats is I assume he probably has data to back this up, I just don't think I've ever seen it.

after last night. I'd take that.
On the tenn boards (vols talk) about the Ala game it's literally nothing but them already complaining about Ala getting all the calls. I mean grow a pair folks. >> UT Ala game thread

The top 4 teams in the SEC are all good. There wont be an easy path for any of them.

As amazing as the SECT victories have been, I won’t lose an ounce of sleep if we split the regular season and lose in the semifinals to a quality opponent
I’d much rather finish the regular season strong and secure at worst a 3 seed

That is a joke. When Bama played UT this season, I've never seen so many blatant fouls on Bama go uncalled, combined with such a favorable whistle on the other end. It happens a lot in this league (or maybe just CBB in general), but holy shite was it egregious against UT.
I hate bad officiating and games determined by free throws (looking at you barn rats), but if that's how it has to be, I'd rather it even out and be in our favor Saturday.

if we split the regular season
Speaking of, here's a general scenario update after last night. There are three games remaining, so it's still a bit difficult to quantify, but here are some potential/likely outcomes, all assuming we beat Arkansas:
AL beats UT then...
AL beats FL --> AL wins RS, AL #1 seed
AL loses to FL and...
UT beats UK --> AL shares RS, AL #2 seed
UT loses to UK --> AL wins RS, AL #1 seed
AL loses to UT then...
AL beats FL and...
UT beats UK --> UT wins RS, AL #2 seed
UT loses to UK --> AL shares RS, AL #2 seed
UT loses to SC and UK --> AL wins RS, AL #1 seed
AL loses to FL --> UT wins RS, AL #3 seed
So assuming I haven't made a mistake or major upsets occur, the best-case is still for us to win out, and barring that, hope we at least split against UT and FL, then UT stumbles against SC and/or UK.

Juwan Gary has definitely gotten better since he left here but he has missed like 5 wide arse open 3s since I’ve been watching this game

Glad Ohio State turned it around after they fired the HC. Makes our loss not look as bad.

I think a bid was locked up anyways, but our women just beat Florida and will definitely be dancing. Still have a shot of being top 4 in the conference too.

Curry has done a really good job. From being arguably the worst program in the SEC to making the NCAAt for the 3rd time in 4 years. That’s really all you can ask for from our Women’s basketball program

I can't tell you how irrationally furious I get every time I turn the TV on at 7:50 to see the first game with 14 minutes left. JUST PUT A LITTLE BUFFER TIME BETWEEN GAMES FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! Nobody cares if one of those unwatchable espn talk shows gets cut short.

For the life of me I can't understand how Gonzaga is projected as the last team in the field. They have a net ranking of 21 and are currently ranked in the top 25 in both ap and coaches poll, kenpom ranking of 20 and BPI of 19. Sure they haven't piled up a lot of good wins and they have played far too many q4 games, but based on metrics alone no team in the net top 25 has ever been close to being left out.
