He is 18 years old and being integrated pretty perfectly. Right now we have a terrific problem. 2 young guys in Dioubate and Stevenson getting harder and harder to keep off the floor.
They are both perfect bench role players for a college team. Neither is close to being a finished product at the moment, but they play with lots of energy and do certain things really well. Exactly what you want from your bench.

moving my petition to new page because last post of previous pages never get seen.
Petition to call Dioubate some variation of "Mo D" moving forward.

I agree. Couldn't really ask for anything more out of them right now. I like Stevenson a lot, but right now he is a 6'11 finesse player and in our system that works.
But im intrigued by Dioubate. I keep waiting for him to show a sloppy handle with the ball, but so far I haven't seen it. I am yet to really see anybody who can keep him from getting to the rim when he decides to go. He defends with good energy and reaction and rebounds instinctively and doesn't wait for the ball to bounce to get after the board. It's really hard not to see Herb Jones when you watch him play. Though Herb was a bit more of a bull in a china shop on offense his first few years and often times got called for charges on drives.

Mo was also a bull in a china shop early in the season. If he got the ball he was lowering his head and going to the hoop come what may. In fairness to him he did have the knee injury over the summer and it may have taken some time to shake the rust off. He looks much more comfortable out there over the last month or so. His entire offseason needs to be nothing by shooting drills though. If he could be just OK at the line and from 3 (75%/33%) he could be a really, really good 2 way wing.

Mo D is the closest thing we have to a slashing/driving wing. Guys like Gerald Wallace, T-Mac(obviously a MUCH better shooter), prime Kobe, D-Wade, Zion Williamson...etc. That style of player. If he could shoot he would legitimately be a future lottery pick. His height, speed, bounce, body control, and bend, is a rare package. He needs refinement to be a starter, but you can see the potential. It jumps out at you. If he puts in the work necessary to improve his skills, the sky is the limit.

I agree. That's why I said I find him intriguing. The one thing that always stood out to me, even early on was that while he was certainly a bit raw and not an elite finisher yet, nobody could really stay in front of him. When you watch him closely against other teams, he kind of dominates his position at all 3 levels (defense, rebounding and getting to the rim), he just lacks a bit of polish finishing and obviously he is not a great shooter.

And I was so down on MoDio after the first several games. You could see his athleticism. But he was completely out of control without any court vision. How he went from that to what he's been doing lately, is shockingly quick. Once the game slowed down for him, he started getting teammates involved in the offense and play good defense against multiple positions. He's looking like this recruiting class's diamond in the rough.
Glad to Stevenson's progression too. Both of those guys are just gonna keep getting better with experience and practice.

Kinda tired of the refs theme. I associate with AHSAA and officiate basketball. The game is called pretty clean with the obvious blown calls. Human after all, all competitors in the same sense, but the bit is worn out, anti-ref. Kinda an important part of the sport we love. Without those who do it rather than watch, we wouldn't have the luxury of the game.
Just a rant on the rant

You could be the cornerstone of officiating, whose willing?

People understand that bad calls happen. It's the constant disruptions of the game with reviews, not being able to handle coaches yelling at them when they do make an objectively terrible call, and the guys like Ted Valentine who want to be the center of attention in big games and go out of their way to make it happen. That's what everyone hates. Even dedicated fans don't know 99% of the officials in college basketball. There's a reason like a dozen of them are notorious though.

It’s like anything else - a few refs looking to be known and a part of the game get most of the attention and sort of ruin it for the rest. Also, there is a growing issue among younger refs of paper thin skin. Refs make mistakes, some make a lot, and the higher you go the more you’re going to hear about it. Older refs know how to block it out or walk away. Too many younger guys think their manhood has been challenged and have to assert themselves.

I'd argue the average football only SEC fan knows the name Doug Shows. That isn't a problem with the fans.

I hate the stoppage in play all of time. It’s not really the stoppage but how long it takes them to figure out who touched the ball and how much time should be on the clock. It should not take five real-time minutes.

Kentucky fans must be in the 1% because they literally track every group of officials that referee their games , grade their performance and then chart them. I guess this is also done by most schools too.
I was pretty amazed to know that ordinary fans would do that.

I dont have any major grievance with the way games are officiated. I did point out that I have never seen a team winning by 25 points at that time, being on the opposing end of a 26-1 free throw disadvantage. I was more amazed than angered by the officiating.
I really do need to know what Nate says to refs though. I have watched Jans, Sweathog and to a certain degree Rick Barnes, just having smoke coming out of their ears for 3/4 of the game just shouting down the officials and mean mugging the hell out of them. Don't get me wrong, Nate will yap some too, but damn he gets lit up with techs far quicker than those guys.

He was getting a T last night way prior to it happening. At the game, it was easy to see coming.

Roll Tide Nate Oats with a great week. Exciting team that can continue to grow.

Other words will sometimes get a reaction from officials when a coach is giving them shite, but "you" is the magic word.
