They lost to Jackson St. the other night which is worse. Hodgson may do end up doing ok there but they are awful this year. Will be a get well game Monday night.

Regardless of whether it is Bediako, Wague, or Pringle, Edey will show his best performance. I'm not saying you should give up on defending Edey, but the key factor will be to defend the other four players on the floor as much as possible, and it will be important to score more points than Purdue scores.
Today, Edey scored 35 points, 14 rebounds, and 4 blocks, but could not prevent Purdue from losing.

I actually think of the three..Purdue, Arizona, and Creighton..Purdue is the game we have the best chance of getting.

I could not believe Northwestern did not front him on defense. I don't see how anybody can stop him playing him from behind. Even on that final regulation play, NW surrounded him, and he scored at ease. We need to do what Wimp did with Melvin Cheatum guarding Shaq. And on offense, Nelson needs to post him up and rain the sky hooks on him to get him in foul trouble. Eady is a load.

This is essentially my point. Nelson at the 5 should help flip the advantage Edey will have on him on the other end, whereas Wague and Pringle will get destroyed and provide no offensive advantage against him. Regardless of who we put on him, he'll go off.

If we had someone like Bediako who could at least mitigate some of the damage he'll do to us in the paint, I think we should use it. But Wague isn't that type of defensive big and Pringle has been pretty garbage on that end of the floor this year. Not sure what's going on with him (maybe a conditioning thing?).

It's actually either top 150-200 or 125-175, depending on the service. But yeah, they're definitely going to improve. Hodgson is a recruiting monster, and the Little Rock area is an underrated hot bed of basketball talent. Kinda like Mobile with football.

Ive always felt 2nd tier/3rd tier lr talent was underrated.

A few years ago, Fla had more little rock kids on their roster than arkansas.

Bryan Hodgson and his Arkansas State Basketball Team was at the Barry Pruitt Hurricane Classic tonight. They were watching the final game of the night. When the game was over, we noticed coach and his players picking up trash. They helped pick up trash on one side of the gym. Such a classy thing to do. Thank you!

Boy, top BB schools are losing to minnows on a regular basis this year. Effects of the portal? Teams not gelling right away?

Suddenly our situation doesn’t look near as bad as some of us were thinking compared to other “good” teams.

Duke loses again. 3 losses. Kentucky losing at home to UNC Wilmington. Auburn loses at App St. Miss St loses to Southern.

Oats mention that Clemson was more physical than us. If that's the case, we'd better buckle when we meet Purdue!

The Crimson Tide will face a familiar face in first-year head coach Bryan Hodgson and the Red Wolves

Alabama Game Notes (PDF) LINK

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama men's basketball team will host Arkansas State Monday night at Coleman Coliseum. Making the trip to Tuscaloosa will be the Red Wolves' first-year head coach Bryan Hodgson, who spent the previous four years in Tuscaloosa.

The Crimson Tide continue to have one of the best offenses in the country, as the tide's offenses ranks No. 1 in the country according to KenPom. Alabama has scored 664 points (94.9 ppg), which ranks No. 2 in the country and the most in program history through the first seven games of the season, surpassing the 2000-01 team (644 points).

The Broadcast
Monday's game is set for an 7 p.m. CT tipoff and will be aired on the SEC Network with Roy Philpott (play-by-play) and Joe Kleine (analyst) on the call.

The radio broadcast can be heard on the Crimson Tide Sports Network with Chris Stewart (play-by-play), Bryan Passink (analyst) and Roger Hoover (sideline) on the call, while Tom Stipe (engineer) is turning the dials. The pregame show will begin one hour prior to tipoff.

Notes You Need To Know
* Head coach Nate Oats and Arkansas State head coach Bryan Hodgson spent the previous eight seasons together (Four seasons at Buffalo and four seasons at Alabama) where Hodgson was an assistant coach under Oats
* Alabama's backcourt is reaching career milestones as Aaron Estrada is six points away from 1,600 career points and Mark Sears is one point away from 1,500 career points
* UA is making 23.1 free throws per contest, which ranks No. 2 in the country
* The Crimson Tide owns the No. 1 ranked offense, according to KenPom
* The Tide is averaging 94.9 points per game, which ranks No. 2 in the country

* Mark Sears ranks No. 1 in the SEC in scoring (20.7 ppg), No. 4 in field goal percentage (58.9) and No. 4 in assists (4.1 apg)
* Alabama is the only SEC schools that has two players averaging 17 points or more per game (Sears 20.7 ppg and Estrada 17.1 ppg)
* Senior transfer Grant Nelson was named to the Naismith Trophy Preseason Watch List, which annually recognizes the top player in college basketball and the Karl Malone Award Watch List for the top power forward in Division I
* Alabama's trio of Estrada, Nelson and Sears have each scored over 1,000 points throughout their college career, which is tied for the third-most in the country (St. John's & TCU with four each)

About Arkansas State
* Head Coach Bryan Hodgson was hired after the 2022-23 season and is the program's 17th all-time head coach. He most recently spent the previous four seasons at Alabama under Nate Oats after following Oats from Buffalo.
* Arkansas State has been on the road for nine of its 12 non-conference outings
* Last season, the Red Wolves began the year with a combined 424 career games played among all players. This season, that number has nearly doubled with the newcomers, totaling 791 career games played across 16 players.
* The Red Wolves are one of just two Sun Belt Conference teams not playing a non-Division-I opponent this season (Georgia Southern being the other), and one of those squads facing more than three Power-5 foes
* A-State is not playing a non-Division-I opponent for the first time since the 1999-2000 season.
* Fifth-year senior Caleb Fields is up to 497 assists for his career, which ranks third in program history. He is 48 assists shy of matching Carl Archer (1986-89) for second all-time with 544.

I don't think that a lot Bama Bball fans get that a loss in basketball is a lot different than a loss in football. You're going to lose in basketball even if you're a good team, Uconn lost 7 games last year in the last couple of months of the season and won the NC.

This...I believe they had a bad 2 weeks.

Remember, we haven't had an undefeated team since 1976.
