Yep. It's an exhibition game. There were some lineups out there we aren't going to see again all season. If we're getting wrecked on defense by Morehead and Indiana State then it's time to worry about a repeat of 2 years ago, but not just yet.

Saw Indiana State beat cincy yesterday. That’ll be a helluva test early.

The juices are back flowing for the basketball thread.
I can't wait. Super hype to see these guys play at full strength.

Careful, I indicated a hope that Griffen wouldn’t need multiple non-conference games to get on track after going 0-7 and a horrible +/- in the last scrimmage and was told I was crazy.

Not being negative mistaken. I'll never be that.

Alabama Men’s Basketball Drops Charity Exhibition at Wake Forest
Aaron Estrada led the Crimson Tide with 24 points
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The No. 24 Alabama men's basketball team played its final exhibition game on the road against Wake Forest, where the Crimson Tide fell to the Demon Deacons, 88-80, Sunday afternoon at the LJVM Coliseum. All proceeds from the contest will support stroke research at the Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Stroke Center.
Aaron Estrada led the way for the Tide, scoring 24 points, shooting 50 percent (10-20) from the field along with six rebounds and three assists. Wake Forest erased a 13-point halftime deficit to come back in the second half led by Cameron Hildreth's game-high 38 points.
HEAD COACH NATE OATS POSTGAME COMMENTS
"I want to thank Coach Forbes in partnering with us for this meaningful event and trying to raise money for a good cause. In regards to the game, I am disappointed with today's result and how complacent we got after leading by 19 points towards the end of the first half. We have a lot to clean up before next week's season opener so we will get back in the gym and gear up for Morehead State."

Alabama basketball held its second and final tune-up before the regular season on Sunday, losing to Wake Forest 88-80 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina as part of a charity exhibition.
The Crimson Tide also faced and lost to TCU in a closed scrimmage earlier in October.
Alabama held a sizeable 52-39 halftime lead. Then Wake Forest came storming back in the second half as Alabama went cold scoring for a while. The Demon Deacons out-scored the Crimson Tide 49-28 in the second half.
"I am disappointed with today's result and how complacent we got after leading by 19 points towards the end of the first half," Alabama coach Nate Oats said in a statement. "We have a lot to clean up before next week's season opener so we will get back in the gym and gear up for Morehead State."
Guard Mark Sears, who is expected to be a top player for the Crimson Tide this season, did not play because of a minor injury. The starting lineup for Alabama looked like this: Aaron Estrada, Rylan Griffen, Grant Nelson, Jarin Stevenson and Nick Pringle.
Wake Forest only had eight players who saw time.
Alabama will begin its season on Monday, Nov. 6 vs. Morehead State at Coleman Coliseum.
Aaron Estrada leads the way for Alabama
Estrada had a strong outing, scoring 24 points as he shot 10-for-20. He also had six rebounds and three assists. The only big blemish he had came in the form of turnovers with five, which led the Crimson Tide.
Nick Pringle comes close to a double-double
Pringle, who started at center, finished with 13 points as he went 5-for-5 shooting to go with 9 rebounds. He also had a block.
Sam Walters strong again from beyond the arc
Walters is the early leader to be Alabama's top player in 3-point shooting.
The freshman shot 4-for-6 from deep vs. Wake Forest. He also shot 7-for-12 from beyond the arc against TCU. Walters scored 42 points over the two scrimmages.
Mixed results from Grant Nelson
The North Dakota State transfer scored 11 points but he shot 4 of 11 as he went 2 of 5 from beyond the arc. He tallied five fouls and had three turnovers. He also grabbed three rebounds and had one steal. Nelson finished with a plus-minus of -16, the worst of any Crimson Tide player.
Nelson has a high ceiling and should be one of Alabama's best players this season, but there might be somewhat of an adjustment needed in his first season with Alabama.
Team stats
Alabama out-rebounded Wake Forest 39-33, but the Demon Deacons shot better at 48% compared to 46% for the Crimson Tide. Alabama had more turnovers, though, with 18 compared to Wake Forest's 14.
The Crimson Tide saw significant contributions from the bench, outscoring Wake Forest 24-6 in bench points.

Other than still not hitting a 3, Griffen’s numbers were pretty good today. Went 3-5 on 2s, made both FTs, got 4 offensive rebounds (he was always one of our best hustlers and had great instincts on the O-boards last year), 2:1 assist to TO ratio, 2 steals, a block, and only -3 +/- in a game we lost by 8. Really good to see his struggles from 3s didn’t affect his hustle today.

Melting over a preseason exhibition game ain’t it boys. We’ll be fine. Maybe we do have a repeat of year 3 but this game won’t dictate much either way.
It seems like we’re either great defensively or really bad with each new team. No in between. All comes down to personnel and effort in Nate’s system. We have the length to still be good.
Hopefully we’re the team that was up by 19 and just fell asleep. Also not having Mark active was a factor.
We’re not going to win 30 games every year unless we can recruit like Duke and Kentucky annually. We’re closer than ever before but still not quite there. As long as we can make the dance every year we can get hot and make a run eventually. This will be another tourney team.
Excited for next Monday. The more basketball they play the better they’ll get.

Wake only played 8 players.
IMO, not smart exhibition game strategy

This team will live or die with its guard play I think and lets hope Mark Sears is up to the task.
Bigs everywhere but not a lot of depth at guard and if you look at the boxscores I think it was the opponents guards that hurt us the worst.

Yeap, like us they had a lot of injuries. 5 contributors, and 3 potential starters.
Great PT and experience for others guys though.

And Kentucky was up only 1 point on NAIA Georgetown College- not the Hoyas. They won by 15, but I like our performances against two good teams, both projected to be in the NCAA and be in top 5 of their leagues much better than goofing around with a very weak NAIA team.
