We had an opening for one of our instructor positions and had 4 people volunteer. We wanted to hire them but AFPC wouldn’t let us because they were either one up or one down a rank. We had to nonvol someone else instead.

tried to find a positive but I guess the only positive is they'll send you to Columbus AFB next.

As someone who lives in Columbus , not sure that is a positive at all

Hell, we'd be fine if it was Columbus. My wife is from there.

That’s the tricky part about retention and giving orders. You don’t always get what you want but a move right before retirement doesn’t make sense. Typically and my experience was the last assignment was something you actually wanted.

Well they turned The Princess into a church so we’d have to find somewhere else for me to dust you in pool

You sure the church doesn't have a table?

What did Sey's turn into? That was where we initially met. I heard the mall was getting torn down.

Oh man they closed that down years ago. I think maybe a package store that my brother got fired from.

Yeah man i remember our first meeting was debating if Kenny Bell was going to be any good. Hahaha

Monte Kiffin, 84, peacefully passed away today in Oxford surrounded by family and friends. As his grandson Knox said, he’s free of pain and smiling down on us from above.

Please keep the Kiffin family in your thoughts and prayers during this time.

It still is a bar , like Inferno, or something like that for a while . Heck you and Sand come back and I will carry y’all to the DAV and we can hang out with the old men and play pool

Would appreciate if someone could post Saban’s speech once available. Hearing it was perfect

Saban sounded and looked like a guy that could have coached another 5 years before slowing down. Still doesn't seem real that he won't be on the sidelines in about six weeks.

Like everything Coach Saban does; he’s doing retirement right too.

Speech

And to the poster who said he sounds like he could have coached another five years, no doubt! He definitely cut out too soon.

But after hearing that speech, I see why he got out of dodge. The game has changed and it's no longer about helping players.

Many thanks for posting/linking the speech!

What a blessing to listen to this man, coach Saban, talk. And what a blessing that this man, this coach, was Head Coach at the University of Alabama for 17 years. I can't imagine how many lives he touched and positively impacted and affected over this period (and prior to that) as a coach, a mentor and a leader.

The knowlegde and wisdom that Saban has is just off the charts. Also how he shared the credits and success he's had. Very impressive.
