Late Run Downs Baseball in 6-5 Loss at South Carolina
Alabama baseball suffered a 6-5 loss to South Carolina on Thursday evening at Founders Park. The Crimson Tide is now 25-18 on the season and 9-10 in Southeastern Conference play.
The Gamecocks used three home runs to build a 5-0 lead after three innings of play. Alabama would not back down, scratching across one run apiece in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to send the game to the ninth at 5-3. With two down, Drew Williamson delivered a two-out two-run single to make it a 5-5 ballgame. The Gamecocks were able to put runners on the corners with one down in the ninth before a blooper fell just beyond the reach of three Tide defenders for the game-winning single.
Garrett McMillan was solid in his start. The junior tossed 6.2 innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts on a career-high 119 pitches. Brock Guffey (2-2) followed for 1.2 innings, suffering the loss after allowing the run in the ninth. Cade Austin (4-1) was tabbed with the win for the Gamecocks.
From Head Coach Brad Bohannon
"I'm really proud of the way the kids fought back and competed. I told them 'we didn't lose the game in the ninth inning. We lost it by kicking a double play ball that led to a three-run homer'. We also had second and third with nobody out, but we didn't score. Those kind of things come back to bite you when you're playing on the road in this league."

Eblin kicking that ball was peak Bammer baseball. The damn batter fell running out of the box. Would have got us out of the inning at down 2-0 instead of 5-0. Once again, one bad inning cost us another conference win.
Must win the next two games.

Eblin has been one of our best hitters as of late but it seems like he muffs a play at least once a game. Leads the team in errors and not every muff has been scored an error. Bama went from whispers of perhaps hosting a regional to a bubble team in just two weeks. The path to post season is getting more narrow with each game.

I refuse to believe this is the best 16-17 players out of the entire country we could convince to come play here.

When one of our batters get hot, two go into a slump. When one pitcher starts throwing well, 2-3 look like shite or get hurt.
We’re cursed.
We’re cursed.

Alabama loses 2-1
Pathetic offensive performance. Just a totally untrustworthy team. A loss tomorrow and the NCAA tournament becomes a very uphill battle.
Just absolute shite.
