Hoopes is out indefinitely but it’s not due to an injury…

I don’t think it’s necessary to potentially damage the kids career any further, but it wasn’t an injury.

Largest crowd to date but the first inning was a buzz kill for sure. Georgia doesn’t score again. Bama responds with two solo shot home runs across 9 innings. Disappointing, but not terribly surprising. Hopeful the guys can get these last two. Going to need more offense than could be mustered tonight.

Not sure what’s up with Hoopes but he was in uniform and in the dugout and seemed to be in good spirits - smiling, cheering the team and coming out to greet the players coming off the field. He did not go to the bullpen. Prielipp was also in uniform and doing the ‘activities’ the dugout guys do on the field in between innings. I never expected him to pitch this season - he’s still projected to be a top draft pick and I didn’t think he would risk it. I’m interpreting Bo’s comments to mean he’s now medically cleared to pitch and has formally decided against it. There was some fan hope he would come in late in the season and help the team reach post season glory. I’m not surprised he’s sitting it out and can’t say that I blame him.
