This is embarrassing. UNA got swept (3) by Southern Miss and outscored 29-5.
At this point this is the worst team in the SEC.

Bama actually scored in the 9th but not enough. UNA (now 5-5) gets their first win against Bama since 1985 and their 7th win ever against an SEC team. I lost count of how many runners were left stranded and how many RISP but they were both double digit figures. Another dark day in Bama Baseball history. On to Binghamton.

Of the many disturbing aspects of the game, perhaps the most disturbing for me is UNA scoring on McNairy (4), Furtado (2) and Banks (1). Hess gets a pass from me since it’s his first game and he’s been out with an unspecified injury.
Eblin is reportedly out for ‘a couple more weeks’ with a shoulder injury and now with Rose hobbled, we’ll likely be heading into SEC play with our 3rd string 2nd baseman (who’s also our 2nd string catcher).
Of course, if we can’t score with runners in scoring position, none of it will matter.

It’s time for a change. We aren’t progressing at all.

Baseball Suffers 9-5 Loss to North Alabama on Wednesday
Alabama baseball suffered a 9-5 loss to North Alabama on Wednesday afternoon at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The Crimson Tide is now 9-5 on the season.
North Alabama got out front early with two runs in the first and three in the second. The Lions added one apiece in the third and fifth with a two-run seventh on the way to the win. Alabama chipped away at the lead with solo home runs in the second, third and fifth innings while adding two runs in the ninth as part of a late rally but could get no closer than a 9-5 final. The win was credited to North Alabama reliever Jacob James (1-0) while Crimson Tide starter Ben Hess (0-1) suffered the loss.
The Tide's solo home runs came from Zane Denton, Owen Diodati and Jim Jarvis. Diodati finished his day with a team-high tying three hits while adding a run and two RBI. Matching Diodati in hits was Tommy Seidl who went 3-for-5 with a double and one run scored.
From Head Coach Brad Bohannon
"First, I would like to congratulate UNA. They really came in here and took it to us, outplayed us, and this was a bad loss for us. We really didn't do anything well enough to win. Our defense was fine, but we didn't pitch it well out of the gate. I do believe that we are going to pitch it well this season, we just didn't pitch well tonight. We have to make some strides offensively and in a hurry. It was a really bad performance by our group tonight, but we have to come back and get better tomorrow."

If this year heads where it appears , will Bo be on the hot seat next year? I know we have a bad situation and he took over a dumpster fire. Honestly the improvement has not been as good as I expected.

If we have a single digit win SEC season this year I'd guess Bo is certainly feeling some heat going into next year. It's definitely too early to be talking that way at this point, but the same issues seem to remain and improvement in certain guys who have been here for 2-3 years seems almost nonexistent. It's the sort of stuff that makes you wonder where the program is going to improve.
But it's still early and in reality we've lost 2 (really ugly) mid-week games and a competitive sweep to the #1 team in the country. So, far from the season being in the gutter yet. But some troubling trends and losses so far.

I think I'm almost to the point of just saying Bo is a great recruiter but not that good of a coach. I know the rebuild was going to take time because of where the program was when he took over, so he gets a lot of leeway, but I'm thinking it's going to take a new coach to get us to the next level.
I'm trying not to be too over reactionary from a couple of midweek losses but those teams are really bad. You would also expect a bit more growth and improvement from the upperclassmen and the offense to eventually come around. It's just overall disappointing.

Agreed - and we're never going to recruit at the level where we can just recruit and have spotty development and be an > .500 program in this league. You have to be able to both recruit/identify talent and be able to develop them to win at Alabama right now. And to be fair, that's a helluva ask and is why it's a tough job, but it is what it is.
So far Bo has certainly recruited to an adequate level here. But boy, the development just seems completely stagnant. Pitchers seem to kind of show up on campus and the majority of them kind of are what they are for 3-4 years. Hitters seemingly the same way, especially in terms of approach.
And secondary to that, the in-game management and decision making is.......sporadic.

the roster shows a lot of juniors on this team who may not be around next year due to the draft and portal.
so our young players need to be stepping up this year

Yeah we lose a lot of guys next year. Really need Bo to start developing these players, but after 4 or 5 years he hasn't done it by now not sure he ever will. I'm willing to give him some time knowing what he's up against and what he took over when he came in. But in saying that he HAS to do a better job with in game management and hiring his support staff. The hitting coaches have been nothing but awful
