Been saying all year we do not have a top tier SEC pitching staff
Supposedly we have two injured guys throwing 95 ish

If there is one thing I've learned it is that I don't take a single word of what Bo says about practice or fall seriously. Remember all the talk about how electric Furtado was
And does any other program in the SEC have more guys thought to be key pieces just magically disappear without a trace or what happened for 6+ months?
- Prielipp in 2021
- Hayslip, Hoopes, Hess in 2022
Brandon Clarke was a Top 100 prospect - hasn't pitched an inning and is being redshirted.
Cade Woods was a Top 200 prospect - hasn't pitched an inning and is being redshirted.
Just doesn't make much sense with how consistently horrid our current rotation of guys has been not to throw some of the kids into fire. At least Holman has been getting some outings lately (and been really solid).

Having not lost our midweek game this week, things could be trending upward.
As somebody else said, never get too high or too low on this team.

Prielipp is the highest ranked pitcher on Keith Law's 2022 Draft Board
Alabama baseball in a damn nutshell
quote:
15. Connor Prielipp, LHP, Alabama
So this is where we are: The top pitcher on the board won’t throw a single pitch in 2022 as he comes back from Tommy John surgery, although Prielipp, who could very easily have been the first-overall pick if he’d stayed healthy, will at least throw bullpens for teams before the draft. Prior to the May 2021 operation, he would sit 92-94 mph with a plus slider in the upper 80s, with a funky delivery that gave him some added deception. His changeup was below-average, but he barely threw it, using the slider instead even against right-handed batters. He pitched just seven times in college due to the injury and the pandemic, so there’s a lot of unknowns here, but he’s also the furthest removed from the surgery of the seven (!) Tommy John players on this list.

Also in that article, signee Walter Ford is #25 on Law's big board. He ain't coming.
quote:
25. Walter Ford, RHP, Pace (Fla.) High
The “Vanilla Missile” sits 94-95 mph with a slurvy breaking ball in the low to mid 80s, coming from a high slot after a plunge in the back of his delivery. He’s extremely projectable and I don’t think we’re even seeing his best velocity now, while he also needs to develop some sort of third pitch. He’s more of an old-school high school projection right-hander, a bet on athleticism and future growth who shows enough present ability to justify a late first-round pick.

Alabama LHP Connor Prielipp, a potential No. 1 overall pick for the 2022 @MLBDraft before having Tommy John surgery last May, will throw 50 pitches in a bullpen workout for scouts May 23, the day before the SEC tournament. He still could be the first college arm taken.
