3. The WR group when the 4th quarter started had a mini huddle with Holden in the middle, from what I could tell trying to get them organized and on the same page, lighting a fire.

Any chance that meeting was about getting Brooks on the field? I don't know if he practices like Jane, but he goes out on the field and plays like Tarzan.

They could have also been meeting about refusing to run multiple screen plays per drive that lost yardage.

He holds himself accountable, that’s what leaders do. There is almost no player I’ve ever seen as disciplined as 31. He had a bad game but somehow managed to block a FG and have a huge sack to kill any thoughts of their drive continuing.

I have no idea what they said but it was definitely in depth and they were asking the coaches questions, themselves etc.

Brooks is clutch, plain and simple. He should play.

Brooks was on the field before the fourth quarter. On one play in the 3rd(I think) he didn't finish his route and almost got Bryce picked off.

He was definitely offsides on one. Saw it before they threw the flag.

We really had a chance to maybe get early control of the game when Moody stop them with very a good read/tackle for lost on that third down but will was off sides. That stop would have forced a punt back to us coming off a good opening drive were we got on the board with a FG.

Texas does not get a FG there and then Jase hits them to the house after change of possessions and we are up 10-0.This 10-0 lead maybe holds Sark back as far as aggressiveness and taking those shots.
We are Used to us getting 2 solid 70-80 yrd scoring drives per half along with one short field drive.
Which normally gets us taking control early, but that dont happen when were making the mistakes we made early on.

All & All we saw our new WR core and a O-line still with moving parts on the road in a big game.Bryce made it work along with getting latu mixed back in.The offense answered when the game was on the line to pull it out and this will really pay off at a Arky,Lsu.

It’s definitely encouraging to hear that the team’s demeanor on the sidelines was positive and you could tell the effort was there on Saturday, but we were just getting out-schemed at times.

Mental errors and penalties are an issue (as they were for us last year), but hopefully that gets ironed out.

BoB really puzzles me. The guy really hasn’t shown any creativity with his playcalling, and I’ll be damned if he forgot that a HB screen is an option that exists and is actually a legitimate playcall when the defense keeps getting pressure on Bryce… he’s just been way too stubborn and uninspired.

I can’t help but think Coach Saban has gotten to the point that he would prefer keeping coordinators who are “loyal” but not our best option as opposed to bringing in the best candidate available, even if that means we risk losing him after a couple of seasons. I could be wrong but nothing I saw from BoB indicated he’s going to call games any differently from last season. A far cry from what we had with guys like Sark/Kiffen or hell, even Daboll.

Cublic and McElroy both thought Texas had as much talent as Alabama. Mc said the most concerning thing to him was the wide outs are possession receivers. He thinks in some areas we were just getting out athleted by Texas. Both said they were surprised at how their athletic ability compared to Ala.
And, Texas and their great offensive coach didnt exactly set any scoring records in that game.

Seeing this game on the tails of the Auburn abomination last year I don't know what to think any more. Auburn was trash and I'm sorry that was not a top 5 defense in Austin. The only hope I have is that in the worst of circumstances, in heat that would kill most normal men, our guys dug deep in the 4th and gutted it out better than their guys did with everything going their way. I don't doubt this team has heart but they lack something.

The shred of hope for the WR position is that the 2 quick twitch/spread the field guys we were counting on have not played a snap and will be back in very short order.

Will they solve things? Who knows, but there is at least some possibility there.

God, we have been so spoiled with WRs. I'm not saying that anyone is acting unreasonably talking about our WRs or anything, but its just amazing the talent that has come through the past 10 years. Its weird not seeing an alpha stud, sure 1st round pick on the field.

I think our WRs are good though, and there is plenty of potential, and a lot of depth. Just gotta continue to develop and build chemistry.

So true. Heck, we were spoiled by offense in general. Like you said, this isn't to excuse any of our play - because the 2nd/3rd qtrs we're unacceptable, but yea 2018-2020 was so easy that it definitely messed up our minds for "normal" and "good".

I think there are possible answers there and up front. The next 2 weeks are pretty massive in terms of taking what we saw Saturday, identifying deficiencies, working on them in practice, seeing progress on Saturday, repeating the next week. I think it's fair to say it'll define the season.

Jase's long run excited me, but was it just me, or did he seem shaken up and not 100% after his next carry and that neck stinger he got?

I'm happy for the win. We just have to improve from here.

Texas is a bunch touchy-feely superior minded people used to running the show. They get p***y hurt easily. :)

Someone put it perfectly: BOB is an NFL coach who expects every player to do his job and beat the man in front of him or in other words, near perfect execution. He doesn't think he has to scheme people open with mismatches and confusion. To expect that level of execution from college players, even at Alabama (and at the NFL level too for that matter) is unrealistic and the results show it.

Your question doesn't represent what I said. If Arkansas, who may or may not be better than Texas, which we don't know, "kicks our butt," then I understand people being upset. Texas did not win. We won. If Arkansas kicks our butt, then we have a pattern. Our performance against Texas is NOT a pattern. So yeah, I think you and others are weak and pathetic.

Earle and Harrell are speedsters. My gut tells me that adds a dynamic to the offense. Notice how much we used Gibbs as a WR? He’s faster than his opponent most of the time. Insert the two we are missing. Bang.

Don’t forget the LSU game in Tuscaloosa or the NC game.

Granted GA had one hell of a defense and we played them even for the first 3 qtrs but defense kept us in that game, not the offense.
