Yes, I know it's ULM but there was much to like about last night.

1. Ty looked really good and made some really nice throws. I think this game was a big confidence builder for him. That said, I was also really, really impressed with Mack and Russell. Ty is and should be #1 but if he got hurt, I'm very, very comfortable with either Mack or Russell taking over. Very few teams in the country have this luxury.

2. I like the play calling and the fact we ran the damn ball. We just need to keep that up and not abandon the run.

3. Kevin Riley should be the #1 RB. There, I said it. He's just so much quicker/faster/shiftier than Richard Young and Daniel Hill. Riley has good hands and is a threat to take it to the house. I'm sorry but Young and Hill are too plodding, slow and have zero shot at breaking a long run. I liked how AK Dear looked. Didn't see his pass pro but he's a great runner.

4. Kind of pleasantly surprised by how the younger DL held up. Not saying they're Jonathan Allen 2.0 but Faga and Simmons looked pretty good.

5. Steve Mboumoua. This dude has off the charts potential. Big dude, strong and crazy cat like quickness. If the light goes off in his head about what he's supposed to do out there every snap, holy cow, he could be an All American. Yes, I know it's ULM but that his quickness was impressive.

6. Lotzier Brooks-dude was as good as advertised. Speedy and with great hands. It's going to be hard keeping him off the field.

7. Dre Kirkpatrick-super physical kid. WAAAAAY more physical than his old man was. Loved seeing him lay the wood. The targeting call was WEAK.

8. Cole Adams-this is your punt returner. Wasn't perfect but had some nice returns. Also had a couple of nice catches.

All in all, I saw a lot of positives. Need this to carryover and not let up the gas on anyone.

I swear, people remember him being a little soft VERY early in his playing days but he quickly became a head hunter who consistently obliterated fools out there

Agree on Riley and Deer showed some things too.

Adams only issue is he can't stay healthy.

Yeah I was mostly happy. The one negative if I’m going to be mildly negative is that there are still moments where the O line is not getting the push I expected preseason. A 3rd and 2 against La Monroe and we got a yard. Went for it on 4th and barely picked it up. There really shouldn’t be much question that they can get at least 3-4 yards on every carry against a team like that.

If he isn’t throwing off his back foot it showed me he can deliver downfield. He was very bad against FSU outside of demonstrating elite pocket escapability.

I liked how AK Dear looked.

He looked the most talented of the three but I doubt he’s ready in pass pro. I suspect he’s the future.

They all looked good in the front 7, but we won’t really know until UGA or Keenan comes back what our baseline is… but they came out fighting.

Agree. He flashed like Barmore did before he was consistent to be on the field every down.

Lotzier Brooks

Williams doesn’t want to run slants or crossing routes from the slot. That was clear before he got hurt, so id flex him outside, move Bernard who is too good and consistent to come off the field back to slot and it would be a rotation between Brooks / Horton / Scott depending on the formation IMO.

Williams has the most talent, but the alligator arms and drops have got to be figured out prior to UGA because we can’t be killing drives like that.

Did he get mentioned one time by the reporters or insiders in the offseason? Dude has come out of nowhere

Unless Roberts comes back healthy and starts mashing people we are going to struggle in short yardage all year.

Geno V is a solid flex OL guy, but never going to be a road grading RG.

I was skeptical of what the OL would be without Booker but RT has been better in protection than I expected and frankly FSU has one of the best DLs we will see all year so to me that was basically a low point IMO.

What was it Coach Saban used to call Roy Upchurch: Irrelevant Roy? That's these two guys right now.

Assuming Williams is available next week, he better play well or I imagine Brooks will start taking his snaps the next time we play in Athens. Heck, Brooks played well enough to justify getting into the mix regardless. The staff may play Brooks in the slot and Bernard and Williams outside.

Personally, I don't see Williams as a slot. He seems like a flanker/Z to me. You want him off the line of scrimmage but his best catching attribute is operating in 1-on-1 situations.

He seems to be thinking too much about how to make his move after the catch when over the middle of the field. His other attribute that made him a 5-star was his ability to make plays after the catch. However, right now, that doesn't seem to mean putting him in the middle of the field a bunch.

If Williams wants to be a pro, he's going to have to toughen up a good bit. This isn't even the old days where some safety or mike linebacker can de-cleat you without a penalty. That's why operating over the middle of the field is such an important aspect of the passing attack now...it is not as much of a longterm health issue as it was 20 or so years ago.

Some of the younger OL guys played a lot and not just in garbage time. I am pretty sure we have options. 72 was the only starter who was subbed in until they went with the true second OL.

2 can stay on the bench based on his second half production and the FSU game.

Well I mean prior to Jam going down he was fighting for the 4th RB slot with AK Dear.

Then you have the meltdown against FSU which throws the opportunity window all the way open and he took advantage by playing hard and looking explosive every carry.

Him and Brooks look like SEC guys to me so far.

Riley is a legit playmaker. He was committed to Miami for the majority of his recruitment then flipped to Bama on NSD.

Yeah, a lot to like. Almost everyone played exactly how you'd want to see them play against an overmatched opponent (and, on that, I don't think ULM is quite the caliber of cupcake as many other teams were getting mega-lopsided wins against yesterday; they're much better than, say, Grambling). I have a gripe though: Ty still seemed a tick slow when distributing it downfield. It all worked out, but timing is going to matter more in most of our remaining games.

Here's what I noticed from the game and it may be the most important aspect of the game.

The coaches, the players, the support staff looked organized and looked like they gave an actual shite about what was happening on the field. There was a ton of positive energy and emotion by EVERYBODY on the sideline. I even say Keenan with his boot on getting in one of the newbies arse one time.

There wasn't all this unorganized subsitution with players running on the field late not even sure where they were supposed to line up.

The defense played MUCH better in terms of fundamentals and attacking with purpose. Again, I know it was ULM but better fundamentals and purpose will carry over if the players stay focused mentally.

Ty played like we all hoped he would play. Much more decisive and confident in his throws.

Riley appears to be one of those players that just takes it to another level when the lights are on. Lightning quick reflexes and great vision. If he gets to the second level, look out. Yes, Young and Hill appear to be "plodders" but there something said for a RB that is going to get 4 yds every time they touch the ball and there isn't a damn thing the other team can do about it.

Germie is the next great Alabama receiver. Enough said. Brooks can be Waddle 2.0. He needs the ball in his hands more. Scott and Horton are both also impressive. Adams looks to have as sure of a set of hands as there are. He should get more looks at slot because if the ball is even close to him he's going to catch it.

Also important to note that the playcalling was MUCH better than last week. Maybe it was just better execution that stood out but Grubb seemed to put playmakers in better position to make plays.

Next week won't be SEC level opponent but it's a chance to get more reps and build on what was a great performance.

He grabs the ball instead of letting it come to him. Almost a universal trait of great WRs.

He also did a fantastic job blocking downfield, which deserves a lot of praise as well.

This was the biggest difference to me. Guys were celebrating and showing excitement...it makes last week's showing even more baffling when it looked like Xanax was passed out before kickoff. That being said, you've got to keep that energy and fire when there's real adversity...that's the key. It's easy to be energetic and fired up when everything is going your way. But how will you act if you get punched in the mouth hard?

Wisconsin isn't Georgia, but it's going to tell us if this team still has a legit cfp chance. Wisconsin put 42 points on whatever cupcake they played...we need to take of business and go into the bye week with real momentum before Georgia.

No intention of raining on anyone’s parade, but I’ve seen too many scores over 70 points and blowouts of bad teams from the Ole Miss and Tennessee teams who wound up being second tier over the past half decade to get too over the moon about last night.

It was encouraging to be sure, but can we play like this against teams with a pulse, or more importantly, the teams that will be trying to punch us directly in the mouth? I’m not sure Wisconsin will really answer that question either. The follow up question is, can we follow up big wins against high level competition with good showings against mid teams?

Most encouraging things to me:
-Team played with an edge in all phases
-Some young guys looked sharp; Lotzier Brooks looks like he will be a superstar; Dear looked fast too
-Germie is just consistently balling out
-Loved hearing Cubelic geek out over Brailsford
-Ty played great; great stats even with a passing and rushing TD called back
-Backup QBs were sharp too; the talent of Russell just pops off the screen.

Give the same kind of performance against Wisconsin, and I will believe we go into Athens with a chance to win; the Vandy game the following week has trap written all over it

They beat us last year. There's no way that's a trap game.
