The roster could very well fall apart, there is no way to fix it with most major high school recruits signed and the only portal players Alabama can get is from Washington right now.
This was the absolute worst time for a coaching change, mainly due to the portal.
What was a sure thing playoff appearance next year, is a who the hell knows right now.
If the roster can be held together, then playoffs it is. If the starters are cherry picked from other schools, a winning record might be a challenge.
The portal might be Alabama's downfall.

I doubt Saban would have kept any previous assistant coaches around because they told him to.
And I don't expect Deboer.
Just look across the state at Auburn.
How many of you think Freeze was told to retain certain assistant coaches? And look how their season turned out.
And now Freeze is able to move on.

I agree. Although, if the rumor is true that T-Rob wanted a commitment from DeBoer and left less than 12 hours later, maybe he was bolting either way. We have been pretty luck with Saban and player retention, but this is the new NIL age.
Honestly, I only wanted one year of continuity on the defensive side. Retain the coaches you can to keep (most of) the roster intact and then after a year, guys either warm up to you and your system or they want to bolt.
I can appreciate a new coach wanting to bring in his own guys, but TRob seemed like the ONE dude you'd want to keep (for at least a year). I also thnk Jeff Allen is an integral guy to retain, but I appreciate he's not an actual coach.

He was already on the move from what I could understand.

Obviously we don’t all love every single thing that’s happening in the transition, but most of us seem to be taking the good with the bad
As for people “making it personal” look inward my guy. You cry about it constantly in various threads and go out of your way to bring it up for no reason it seems
You’re good for at least a few whiney posts a year about how ppl are “ganging up on you”, “yall don’t like me” etc…
Ffs a grip man, its just the internet

Some of you will continue to play this down but man what a dumb move. If you are about roster retention you can't let the best remaining recruiter who should have been the DC walk out the door to your biggest competition.
I would love to have kept T-Rob but there is a new leader in town. If we want him to be successful, he needs to be given the ability to make whatever decision he thinks is best. Too much meddling is what put us in the position we were in pre Saban.

Malachi Moore is still here!! He's the ultimate leader/captain

Soooo, we can't be critical of decisions the coaches make? Wtf would we even talk about on these boards then!?
Does it make you feel better to make knee jerk reactions about things you can’t control?
A position coach left not even 24 hours after learning who the new head man was, and a back up entered the portal. I should be crying on the internet about this?

Saban needed to clean house to change the culture and roster in 07.
DeBoer inherited a loaded roster that was pretty much a sho in for a playoff appearance next year.
If DeBoer loses the roster and doesn't make the playoffs next year, that is a massive disappointment.

It's the internet, so posting on a message board is an outlet for some folks.

Is anyone crying? I must have missed that.

Again, I agree, but it sounds like he was leaving either way. Whether it was Auburn or Georgia he was likely leaving. We still have not heard about some of the other staff, and I’m sure Roach is more patient.
I watched Cubelics podcast on the hire, and he mentioned we would lose coaches and players. It is the era of college football. But everyone that has played for or worked with DeBoer loves him. He makes everyone better. It is going to sting, but I plan to be patient. Players and coaches come and go, but I am excited about the new coach.

If this is your therapy so be it, but don’t cry about it when ppl criticize you for publicly panicking about things that are ultimately not that serious

You guys have to take some Xanax I swear to god
We’re four days into this and barely have much movement. We also hired a guy less than 48 hours after it was announced
There is no reason to panic here

This
Some ppl on this board can’t handle change, and immediately will preach about “adapting” right after that lol

A backup this year, yes. A likely starter next year? Also, yes.

The new head coach at any school can't be expected to make promotions of previous staff less than 6 hours after arriving on campus. If TRob really told him commit to me as DC or I'm gone last night then he was being unreasonable or planned on leaving anyway.
I mean seriously if your company hired a new boss would you go to him the second he walked in the door and demand a promotion and actually expect him to make that decision on the spot?

But seriously, it's all in good fun. I think most people just use this platform to vent when they're frustrated when coaches make decisions that don't align with their opinions. DeBoer's legacy certainly won't be cemented in the first 48-72 hours, so definitely interested to see how things play out!
