Uga had just as many players to portal out as Bama did, somewhere between 17-18. Even their top MLB hit the portal trail.

The problem in today’s world is not just recruiting them it’s keeping them. And even ole Kirby has that problem himself

Kirby is also starting to see his coaches being poached or moving up somewhere else. Monken to NFL, Lanning to Oregon. I see the same trend there that CNS had to deal with.

Last batch of Saban assistants and players just hit the shelves

In about 4-5 years when the well is all dried up, that’s when he’s probably gonna test the NFL waters

The good news is that everyone has to deal with this shite.

The hope is a program can keep enough guys around for a year to make a good run. It will be hard for anyone to count on the consistency of years past.

Dezz Ricks in portal and most likely following T-Rob.

Some of you will continue to play this down but man what a dumb move.

If you are about roster retention you can't let the best remaining recruiter who should have been the DC walk out the door to your biggest competition.

Go ahead and insult me. Whatever. Won't change the fact this isn't good and it's only beginning

Some things are going to change dude

You can either accept that or keep bitching on a message board (and to whoever gives you the time of day IRL)

If you choose the latter don’t continue to cry about how “nobody here likes you”

Nick Saban just retired. We all knew that would mean a major shift was about to happen, why are people surprised…? You really think Kirby wasn’t foaming at the mouth pursuing this as soon as he heard the news. Lmao like, that’s a lot to ask of the new guy to retain staff that have been targeted.

Yeah but adaption to change is Paramount.

DeBoer is not starting off well if his emotional ties to less staff members outranks his decision making and the need to build the best staff and cover weaknesses like recruiting.

His main objective right now is to keep this damn roster from blowing up. Letting T-Rob go is the opposite, especially when his DB coach isn't any better and definitely can't out-recruit.

It's stupid and that is the shite that will have DeBoer looking like Harsin and not Urban Meyer.

Wish we could have kept TRob…not the best move, unless there’s a move to get Schumann. Will definitely hurt in recruiting

You guys always make it a personal thing when I'm just talking sports.

I don't care if you like me. I'm just here to talk sports.

Some of y’all reminding me of why we wondered in the dark when Paul Bryant stepped down. There’s a new coach. Get behind him and let him work.

How about we trust the guy being paid $8M a year knows what he’s doing?

Dude nobody is insulting you at all, but you got to chill and not worry about you can’t control. If players want to leave so be it there’s no need to panic. You got to handle the pressure and be a cool motherfricker even when it don’t go your way

Soooo, we can't be critical of decisions the coaches make? Wtf would we even talk about on these boards then!?

I agree. Although, if the rumor is true that T-Rob wanted a commitment from DeBoer and left less than 12 hours later, maybe he was bolting either way. We have been pretty luck with Saban and player retention, but this is the new NIL age. It will look more like the NFL with players and coaches leaving rather than committing to one team.

Maybe Leach was on to something with NIL and transfers. You can sign a yearly contract and be replaced or leave through the portal, or sign a 3-4 year contract and not leave.

Yup exactly. Its done and over with but now we have guys that have never recruited here and know no one. We are gonna find out fast what he is made of on recruiting. Im sure Saban still being there he will call in some favors and try to maintain some relationships but man going from never having to worry about recruiting to this is like jumping off a cliff

DeBoer hasn’t even been the coach for 24 hours ffs

Seems likely that TRob was either told his position wasn’t going to be held, or he had already intended to leave

But you want to lecture us about adapting.

Find some chill lol
