My concern is the fact that the Lions released him. Teams just don't knee jerk release a valuable asset just because of the optics. Most of the time the organization's lawyers do their own investigation, and from the information they gather, the organization will either choose to stand behind the player or go ahead and release them. The organization may be looking at the information they've gathered and concluding this isn't going to end well for Arnold.

Terrion was already struggling. They weren’t going to get to play him this year and the optics of it looked bad to keep a player who couldn’t play this year and they wouldn’t want to extend after his rookie contract was up.

Yeah it was business. He was damn near if not the outright leader in DPIs last season. He’s always been a bit grabby for a corner and the NFL officiating doesn’t suffer that from DBs. He didn’t really grow in his ability to cover without grabbing in year 2, so his future in the NFL was not entirely dim but it was believable that his post-rookie contract career was going to be bouncing around on short term deals.

Lions don’t want to lose a year of availability then be in a contract year in 2027. They may believe he’s innocent - they did play him after all - but business realities can’t be ignored in the NFL.
