Guys that want to be here and are coachable are the key things. CKD made it to the NC with probably one of the lowest ranked groups of players of all the teams there and maybe than many other teams prior. The difference he got the most out of his players and they bought in. That term Saban use to love throwing out there. Buying in is what we need and realistically the timing did not help the transition.

CKD had to hold together the roster and the incoming class which he did a great job on but like Saban did in 07 after the first season was over time to clean house. I do not care how many sites like over signing or bad press we get it is time especially with the portal that the 2025 roster should be all his players he wants.

This may be the funniest thread I've read on here. I've lurked on here since the BuccwildBammer days and this is the craziest shite ive seen on here. All offseason people talked about the crazy fanbase at Alabama is going to turn on Coach Deboer at the first sign of trouble. We've lost two games by 1 score after the greatest college football coach of all time retired, and this place looks worse than the plains when it was burning! Twisted and Boz may have actual information, or maybe they dont. Maybe the information came from people who already had their minds made up about these players, because shockingly all the cancers besides booker have been playing terribly. But I do know that Coach Deboer and his staff do have all the information, and I promise there isnt one thing going on in that complex that they dont know about. If there is a cancer, it will be dealt with. If there isnt, then it wont be. I know that I will continue to donate every month because I believe in Coach Deboer and his staff, and no one wants to right the ship more than them.

I believe the Twisted's core post 100%. That poster has always had a reasonable stance and is knowledgeable.

It's the others who are using what he is saying to fan their flames of absolute hate.

I mean I can definitely see where something like that is going on. Team leadership acting like they lead from the front in interviews and then leading from the rear behind closed doors and rubbing basically everyone else on the team the wrong way is significantly more plausible than the palace coup scenario.

Can you believe this entitlement is probably coming from them believing they're superior because they were taught under Saban?

The irony is they aren't showing that. What else is ironic is the coach they feel superior to actually went had more success than they did last season with lesser.

There's always the type that do this. Any coach worth his salts will find a solution, whatever that solution is.

Cancerous behavior is old as time. If a head coach at a program like Alabama isn't aware of this common problem then he shouldn't (and won't be) the coach here for long.

No need for US to worry about it. That's just adding fuel to the fire. DeBoer is either cut out for this big time gig, or he ain't. We will see.

I, for one, am giving 2 total and complete seasons (and off-seasons) before I even begin to worry aloud, unless we just have a total collapse.

Yes. I can see them making that belief pretty clear to the new guys and being kind of condescending to them rather than welcoming, which prompts those guys to gravitate to the established players who aren't dicks to them and it creates factions in the locker room. That's not even all that uncommon after coaching changes. All this speculation about power plays and intrigue behind the scenes going back to last season just feels like a huge stretch to me though. I don't know how you'd keep a lid on that for over a year.

ETA: I think that read on the situation kind of tracks with what is being said by Boz and Twisted anyway. Basically we're going to lose a lot of guys to the portal one way or another and DeBoer has to pick the right group to show the door. If he picks the wrong group it's going to frick up the program. Saban had to do the same shite after his first season, and he obviously picked the right group to get rid of.

Well, the good news is that we can have up to 105 players on scholarship starting next year. That, plus backfills due to transfers and we can hit the portal with a vengeance AND, probably more importantly, we can sign more players per class. This allows for staffs to sign more kids of "good character," but need more time to develop, instead of swinging for the fences on 5Star players.

AJ saying what needs to be said:

LINK

“I think it’s definitely a different era. I don’t think you’ll see the same standard from discipline, just things that the team seems to do. And it’s a new day and age,” said McCarron. “Everybody’s worried about f—ing TikTok and having a reel and being on highlights from their personal self and personal gain and how much money they can get from NIL.”

I tend to believe this as well. Everyone always assumes the worst about people they dont know well. Its a human nature thing. Regardless of what QB plays Saturday, I think CKD is plenty capable enough of assessing a situation and dealing with it. The dude wants to win

It happens with a new staff. I played for a legendary HS coach in Alabama & he retired after my sophmore season. The next season was a disaster bc the seniors never bought in. There were a handful of guys who just drained the excitement we had for the new coaching staff right out of the locker room & there was nothing we could do bc they were senior leaders who had been starting 3-4 years. We got into a giant fistfight one day after practice bc two of the seniors said they wanted to lose that Friday night bc we'd miss the playoffs & the season would be over. It was ugly.

That next spring & fall was a breath of fresh air bc those guys were gone. The negativity & bitching dried up & we all agreed to do whatever the coaches told us bc none of us wanted to have another season like we did last year. We ended up going undefeated that season & new coach went on to five state championshil games winning two of them.

I doubt he can fix it this season, but I honestly think the further CKB gets from Nick Saban's players, the smarter he is going to look.

Agreed. If there's some significant lack of buy-in, especially from older players, we need to just bite the bullet and tell them all to take a hike. Next year might be shite or it might be like 2008 was for Saban. It'll definitely be shite if there's still a bunch of dudes who aren't bought in hanging around the program though.

Benching Milroe would really send a powerful message. CKB would essentially be saying to the team he doesn't give a shite about t-shirt sales or sponsorships - he's going to do what it takes to win.

The all-in guys will respond positively & the ones that don't can hit the portal in December. Addition thru subtraction.

With that said, I hope Milroe has 6 TD's Saturday & it never has to come to that.

Bama has had guys do interviews for a while. That's not new. Metchie did them too years ago.

The interviews are not the problem.

He just said that those higher ups are aware of the situation not that him and his buddies went and told on that players. Unless I’m misunderstanding it I’m assuming they (higher ups) found out through the coaches

If DeBoer has to sacrifice the rest of this season to save future seasons he needs to do what it takes.
