This permeates through the fanbase too.

We got fans on here expecting the downfall of the program because Saban didn't hire who they thought he should hire.

New flash:
Alabama has been the most consistently dominant program throughout the history of college football. We will continue to be that.
I think these hires show that Saban wants to go back to "Making their arse quit". I'm excited to see how it plays out.

We've hit a point where if we aren't prohibitive favorites in a game/season we as a fanbase have forgotten how to react and immediately move to "we'll lose" or "it's over".

I get it - we've been the expected winner of 99% of games/seasons the last 15 years. But you can still win games and titles when you aren't 100% the unanimous pick. And that's where we find ourselves.

And it's even kind of fun.

To add more to that we have won when we should have lost eg 2017. Or created one of the most timeless plays in Alabama history. I love we are getting new blood and want to grind it out. Makes me smile.

SOG,

I respect you man, and I always appreciate your evaluations, and you know way more than I do, but I have a terrible feeling about this duo.

The superior talent argument doesn’t convince me, it’s not like Pete and BOB had a lack of talent the last two seasons.

I foresee low scoring offense and average defense.

Teams that shouldn’t will make games real close this season, and eventually I think it’s going to catch us when it shouldn’t

Of course Pete and BOB didn't have a lack of talent. That's the whole point.

When you've got Bryce Young and our skill talent, you don't need to change the protection twice, change the formation twice, have 4 different option routes, and snap the ball with 1 second left on the play clock. That just confuses everyone. 11 guys doing something simple is better than 7 doing something complicated with 4 lost.

When you've got Will Anderson on the edge, you don't need zone blitzes with him dropping into quarter coverage and crazy delayed stunts. Just let him whip the tackle and be aggressive.

When you're the most talented team in every game you play, you don't have to play 4D chess every play. You can win playing checkers.

It is going to show you how bad PG was at calling plays. Holy hell he just didn't let the guys play. PG consistently dropped our best pass rushers in coverage, brought the safety on delayed blitzes, and stunted the interior d lineman on short yardage situations.

What Nick Saban's coordinator hires mean for Alabama in 2023 (ESPN)

quote:

Some Bama fans have grumbled about the new leaders of the team's offense and defense. But suggest the Tide's leader has lost his fastball at your own risk.

It’s not where it should be but I disagree.

There's nothing wrong with any of that. I'll rather have a simplified defense that our players can adjust to and make a faster impact than the complex trash BS that Golding was running. I could care less how good on the chalkboard you are if it doesn't translate on the field properly
