Not the player who necasarily racks up the most yardage on offense and not necessarily the most gifted athlete with the best measurables. Who is the best football player on the team? My vote goes to Damien Harris or Tua. Damien's measurables are probably just right above Jacobs and behind Najee and Robinson but the kid is just one hell of a player. He is a great athlete of course with strength and speed etc but he just knows how to find the hole and when to make a cut or accelerate etc. Very underrated by literally everyone including our own fans. It wouldn't surprise me if Najee outshines him because of his potential but I doubt it happens. Damien gonna wreck shite this year.

I was thinking D. Harris as well. Honorable mentions to Jonah Williams and Mack

Terrell Lewis. But since he’s injured, Raekwon Davis.

But I also like Damien.

Way too many people focus on skill positions. A number of offensive and defensive line players have just as good of an argument as anyone else, most notably J. Williams, Leatherwood (soon), Q. Williams, and R. Davis to name a few. Similarly, I think Diggs, S.Smith, and Thompson will have something to say about it by years' end.

Remember, just because you don't touch the football doesn't mean your not the best player on the team.

Where is all the love of Williams coming from? Lord knows I hope he is as good as some of you tout him to be because our run defense depends on it but what has he shown since he has been here to warrant the optimism let alone talk about him possibly being the best player on the team? Just curious.

If our entire team declared for the draft and the draft was tomorrow, none of these players

Damien Harris

quote:

Tua

quote:

Najee

quote:

Robinson

quote:

Jacobs

would be Bama's first, second, or even third player chosen in the draft. Those would be either Offensive Tackles or players from our defensive front 7.

I could ask you the same thing:

I know right? And big Quinnen had a higher PFF rating than Najee last season. Both are going to be really good this year.

Williams had one of the best campaigns at RT in the country his freshman year. He had a sophomore slump but will be the most likely 1st rounder out of everyone we got.

Dude I have no problem with your opinion but you just gave a bad comparison. Najee was a consensus 5 star recruit with elite measurables and rated as the #1 rated overall recruit by one service. Williams wasn't in that category coming out of high school and hasn't even earned that much playing time since he has been here. Last year we needed depth behind Payne especially since we knew we needed a quality replacement for Payne this year. I hope Williams is a freaking beast for us this year but not only is there zero evidence for it, I would argue there is a bit of evidence that he won't be.

Regardless, your opinion is certainly as good or valid as mine and I wasn't trying to look down on your opinion either. I was just curious why you listed him because I have seen lots of hype for him but I haven't saw it on the field. I am just really interested in his position and I worry that we don't have a true, elite type nose tackle type on the roster this year. For what it's worth I sincerely hope the kid ends up being one of the best players on the team this year.

Raekwon and Najee are easily the two best players on this years team (preseason)

You are talking about the wrong player brother. We are discussing Quinnen Williams on the DL.

It's simple. By many reports, he had a monster spring. Very, very disruptive from the NT spot.

I also don't care about star ratings and that crap when discussing individuals. Sure, when speaking about a roster of 85 kids, recruiting rankings and that stuff matters.

But in a discussion comparing individuals, recruiting rankings and what you did in high school ain't shite.

I mean, Ben Davis anyone?

I disagree. He was part of our principle DL rotation last year and is our starting NT now.

But isn't he our starting nose tackle by default? There is literally only one other possibility and he wasn't even ready to contribute at all last year and needed a redshirt. I am known here as the resident negative Nancy and worry wort but I think I have reason to worry about nose tackle. Maybe the defense will be just as nasty without our usual elite nose tackle due to offenses having to possibly double team both Davis and Buggs should Williams not be up to par. I am done now though as it appears I have hijacked my own thread worrying about yet another position on the team.

Not anyone who's considered who our second team NT is.
