Small observation about DeBoer

I remember his earlier press conferences he kind of looked like a little church boy answering questions with a smile on his face and a bit of a robotic positivity that almost felt a bit unnatural.
Fast forward to this fall camp and he just looks so dead to the world man, it’s actually pretty funny
every shot I see of him outside a podcast special is him looking like he wants to kill somebody. I know you get used to the environment and fanbase over time but it’s an incredibly stark contrast I’ve really never seen with another head coach. Nick Saban on the other hand really mellowed out, obviously as he got older.

Teams take on the attitude of their head coach, so this is great news

Yes, I'd love a fire and toughness that doesn't look fake.
Don't cuss to cuss, cuss because you're pissed and want people to remember what you said.
He's gotta be himself though, don't jump from a awe shuck guy to a hardass just for the moment, players will see right through that.
I want to see a tough team so bad, I know we want see a ground and pound, but a couple line guys with some Dickerson in em.

One possible reason is maybe he is starting to figure out he is basically surrounded by 90% of auburn media asking questions for every bit of info they can use against him or twist in some way to trying to make us look bad. I believe thats one reason Saban treated the state media like he did sometimes.

Dickerson without the personal fouls or unsportsmanlike penalties. It possibly cost Alabama the LSU game in 2019. Liked his enthusiasm and toughness, hated his lack of discipline and costly penalties.
Like James Smith last year. Essentially gave FSU a turnover in the 4th with Alabama down by one score. It effectively ended the game. People act like Alabama was blown out and never had a chance. They were down 7 til that episode halfway thru the 4th which cost Alabama a shot to tie or win the game.

The Alabama football head coaching job can take years off someone's life, even if they're succeeding. The pressure cooker they are in all the time is unreal. After DeBoer's first season there were interviews I saw him doing where he looked like he'd aged ten years. I don't follow his interviews anymore simply because he rarely actually says anything other than a big helping of word salad. So I don't really know if he looks like he's aged more since the last time I noticed it.

Your sample size is much greater with Coach Saban. While I think the tornado in 2011 played a profound impact on the Saban family staying in Tuscaloosa, I don’t think Saban really “mellowed out” until around 2021.
I agree that DeBoer has changed his demeanor somewhat. He’s never going to be a storyteller like Bryant, Saban, and even Gene Stallings. It’s just not his personality.
I’m glad he’s pissed off and outside his comfort zone.

IMO, Mal Moore and his selfless love for the University was a meaningful factor, among others, in Saban remaining at Alabama. Maybe put Alabama over the top when considering other options.

Coach Moore was harpooned by many, including Coach Bryant, at times.
His tenacity and love for the TIDE should never be questioned.

That is better than we are looking good and the players are working hard.
