Saban lost the program in 2020 when he let players like Najee Harris

I loved watching Najee as a player but he was the first one I heard on interviews deviating from "the message" that everyone else was so apt at repeating.

I can't remember exactly what he said but the gist was he got off on the wrong foot with "that little man."

Coaches just don't have the power they used to. I've seen references to Saban and Stallings in this thread....would they have to change their ways in today's era? Almost certainly. It remains to be seen if DeBoer can navigate it, but I think he's pretty ahead of his time in this regard--I'd never heard of a "general manager" on staff before him.

it could’ve lit a fire under Jalen that he didn’t know he had.

Have you watched Jalen in essentially every situation of adversity he’s faced? It would likely be the exact opposite of lighting a fire. He would pout and play with his tail between his legs if put back in.

This idea that there was ever a revolt is childish nonsense and is a microcosm of our society today. Milroe isn't good. Deboer stuck with him for continuity and because he's too nice. It's not a grand conspiracy.

Exactly. If there was truly a "revolt" the receivers wouldn't have shown visible frustration on multiple occasions today.

Looking at the reaction of the players yesterday, seems clear Milroe has lost the team.

So you wouldn't have to cut anyone.

And the reason they didn't bench him they didn't want to destroy his shot in the NFL over a meaningless game.

Yes, because it's always better to destroy the program, put the needs of one player (Radio) over the entire program no matter how badly it costs the program than do what needs to be done for the program.

Except, they probably gave him guarantees when Saban left... guarantees that he would play just like his NIL agreements required.

Could very well be Deboer never had a choice in who played QB.

I personally would’ve liked to have seen another QB in the game yesterday. However, we all need to be open to the possibility that Ty just isn’t very good. I mean I hope he is, but all anyone is doing right now with him is hoping.

This is the way. Unfortunately it takes balls and our HC doesn’t have any.

I don’t think anyone is really saying there is a certainty that he’d be a great QB. However he literally can’t be worse than what we saw in the first quarter yesterday.
