Serious question: Alabama fans celebrating Jayden Daniels' injury?

I've seen numerous assertions by LSU posters (yeah, I know) over the last three days of Alabama fans celebrating the injury to Jayden Daniels during and after the game.

I haven't seen this, but admittedly I haven't gone looking. Did that actually happen? I have no doubt there were one-off posts by idiots, but by and large what I've seen is well-wishes for Daniels (along with the endless arguments re: targeting vs. non-targeting).

I also saw, beginning even before the game was over, several assertions that Daniels' jaw was either broken or shattered by the hit (primarily as a way to bolster the "targeting" argument), but the injury updates thus far seem to be focused solely on his progression through the concussion protocol. Any truth to these statements of injury to his jaw?

I honestly don't know if the hit was targeting or not. I will say if the refs didn't call targeting on Tennessee last year for the Bryce hit, they can't call the Turner hit targeting either. Personally I think both should have been called targeting, but I'm not a rules expert.

The usual suspects whose entire existence on these boards is to troll and get in fights laughed about it. I wouldn't say they "celebrated" it, but they knew they'd get bites if they posted about it and laughed. Then LSU folks immediately began drawing up legislation to have Turner sent to the gulag, and that only egged the response on more.

In conclusion, pretty sure most people hate that he got hurt and hope he's able to play Saturday.

I don't think anyone has a problem with Daniels. He is a really good QB, and seems pretty likeable. I'm sure some Bama fans were saying dumb shite just to gloat and troll after that play, and the game. But no one is celebrating him getting injured.

I think that a lot of people just don't believe it was a dirty hit. It wasn't late, it wasn't malicious, and I don't believe Turner was trying to hurt him. It was just a big hit right after he let go of the ball, and Turner is a big strong dude, and it is football, and Daniels was injured as a result.

So we might celebrate it as a good play by Turner, and the fact that it came at a point in the game where it looked like we were taking full control, and that kind of sealed it. But no one wants to see a player like Daniels get hurt.

And the fact that LSU fans (not all of them) are getting so emotional about it is hilarious, because if roles were reversed, they would be creaming their pants over the play, and they'd be calling any Bama fans calling it dirty crybaby pussies. That is an indisputable fact.

William Taylor, NFLSU, and their ilk would be flooding this board of gifs, pictures, memes, farks, etc of the play, and they'd be getting thousands of upvotes from LSU fans.

So, frick em.

I was pretty active on the Rant post game, enjoying the foot in mouth aftermath for all the shite talking LSU fans. There were a few jerks with script A's by their name laughing about the injury, but the vast majority were not celebrating him being hurt.

The responses by some of the LSU fans were wild though. Posting pictures of the tornado aftermath and hoping another one went through Tuscaloosa killing even more people. Calling for future Bama opponents to actively head hunt the players and injure their knees.

Whatever gloating about the Turner hit took place, it paled in comparison to all of that. Very disturbing.

People were making fun of the lsu posters that were so upset over the hit. That was the extent. No one is really happy when a player is hurt. Except Willy and nflsu. Both have been banned long term in the past for celebrating injuries to Bama players.

Softest fanbase in college sports. Always an excuse. It's never just that they played like shite. Grievance is the central pillar of LSU's entire culture.

I love to see great defensive plays like Dallas made on Daniels. It’s not in any way a dirty hit in my opinion. It’s exactly the kind of hit that sends a message in a big game like that.

Justin Eboigbe also had a great hit on Daniels in the game. He went flying backwards for 2yds.

We’ve all watched enough football to know what a dirty hit looks like. Dallas was about .05 seconds late from either a fumble or a sack by the time Daniels released the ball. As soon as it left his hand Dallas was on him. No way you can pull up to avoid that and I doubt Dallas knew it left his hand. To me it was exactly the kind of hit you hope to get on a QB as a defensive player.

Doesn’t mean I want to see someone get injured or hurt, but it’s football and you want to strike fear in a QB, it’s part of the game that defensive players relish to send that message. I’m gonna bust you up all game long when I get the chance. I love that mentality in a player

On behalf of the Bama board in the game thread on the Scoreboard I made it a point to say I wished Daniels well and that he was a phenomenal player. I was met immediately with an F U. So I did try to be understanding and concerned about the player.

No one is celebrating it. There is no way anyone with any thought rooted in reality would wish injury on any player. These KIDS are just playing their hearts out for Thier teams and for each other.

Obviously it's a violent sport and injuries happen but if you would take a step back and watch the players on the field after the game you would see that it's a lot of mutual respect. The fans are what brings things down into the gutter.

I saw that when it happened. That was one of the things that prompted me to start this thread.

I didn't see anyone making fun of the kid for getting injured....why would anyone do that? Kid is phenomenal and as far as I know a good kid.
I did however ask the real lsu fans to come get their pussy (poster) off the message board...saying it was the dirtiest play he had ever seen.

I remember being in Tiger Stadium in 2018 when Tua briefly went down. When he laid there on the ground, the entire stadium cheered because they thought he was going to be out. No exaggeration. The LSU fans cheered like it was a turnover because they also knew Jalen was out and it meant they had a chance. It was one of the more disgusting displays I’ve ever seen from a fanbase.

its purely people dunking on the LSU fanbase for doing what they always do. nobody wishes for a player to get hurt. Immediately after it happened there were at least 20 LSU posters saying they hoped Turner got crippled in the next game, etc

I’ve seen more LSU fans celebrating an opposing team’s injury or saying their team should take out knees and head hunt more than any other fan base.

I was at the game and generally wished the kid well. He’s a phenomenal player. You want guys like that playing and inspiring the kids behind him.

People were celebrating the big hit and making fun of the LSU losers who were calling it dirty after Perkins tried to break Milroe’s leg. I personally pointed out how if they are calling that targeting then they have to now also say that Devin White’s targeting was a correct call. They didn’t like that much.
LSU fans were threatening Bama fans planning to attend the game next year and calling for another Tornado so frick them,

You always cheer the big hit, it's part of football. But you want the guy to quit mentally. You want him to not want to play your team any more he's had enough..re.."make his arse quit!"

But injured? No.Never would I cheer a cart or an ambulance that's an unfortunate part of the game that can happen to anyone and you don't wish it on them if you're not sick like a Willy T.

I wasn’t unhappy that he had to leave the game, but I didn’t want him to be injured. He was the best player on the field that night and one of the best in college this year.

That said, I also did some trolling on tRant like others because of the previous stated posts by LSU fans. In addition to them calling for injuries, I wanted to give them some payback for all of the Brandon Miller murder posts from this spring. Many, many low class posts from their fan base.
