Saban Needs To Call It

It pains me knowing that our offense could really be dialing it in right now, getting comfortable with timing, and gelling overall. Our offense could be developing into an absolute death machine, and prepping our defense as well.

BUT no. Jalen Hurts is still getting half of the reps. Saban needs to call it. It's past ridiculous at this point.

I'm going with the theory that Saban knows what he's doing and you don't.

Yeah just like last year when he wouldn't play Tua and it nearly cost us a title. I had this same sentiment hurled at me 1000 times.

Please tell me how prolonging this QB bullshite helps the team

You forget yourself, friend.

You are simply a spectator to a thing that exists fundamentally separate from you, and you are involved solely as that spectator. Nothing more. And while you want to point your remote at Saban and tell him what to do - which as your entertainment, he damn well better, amirite? - it doesn't work that way.

Have you ever thought for a second that it is this exact QB competition that's pushing Tua to do what he's doing. It doesn't benefit Saban to announce a starter, and this competition at every position is part of the process. You are just a spectator, and what you want, literally doesn't matter. Saban does what makes us a winning machine - and what goes on in those facilities is not dependent on, concerned about, nor connected to anything you want.

You are just a spectator.

And please stop with threads on this topic. The rest of us are focused on the team and how good we can be this season in all units. There's lot's of interest, moxie, and talent to this group and as a result, there's lots to enjoy. Get on board with a new narrative. Let this one go.

Wow, a spectator, so deep. I've never thought of that before.

I'll let this go when Saban actually does the right thing, puts Tua with the 1s, and lets our team develop around the Tua-led offense, forming an identity.

There is zero benefit to cutting Tua's reps in half

The reason this annoying discussion continues is because Saban won't make the call. It's annoying. I know the receivers are annoyed having to take half of the snaps with Jalen

I agree. I honestly think it must be hard for him to tell a guy that has worked his arse off going on three years now that he has lost his job. He probably really loves Jalen too. Has to be done though.

Please stop.

Tua's reps are not "split in half." All of our QBs are getting tons of reps, and this is how Saban runs a fall camp. The number 2 guy has always gotten a crapload of reps, usually 40% compared to number 1, and it's necessary to build a number 2 guy.

You may not realize it, but we need Jalen Hurts to be the best version of himself as possible. What if Tua shatters his femur in 6 weeks? Do you want Hurts to not have been being developed this whole time?

Your inability to grasp these concepts knows no bounds. This is not a video game nor a tv show. It's real life, and winning championships means having not only a awesome plan A, but the best damn plans B and C that you can muster. And guess what? This QB competition is the best thing to improve all of those plans. Saban says several times a year that you always want competition in fall camp, and that it makes everyone better. Have you missed it the several times a year he's said it for the last decade? Were you in the bathroom?

Sit down and shut up, please. For the love of God. Stop embarrassing yourself. We get it. You can't see outside of the box and have a very basic, adolescent view of football. We also forgive you for it. But you have to stop with these horrible threads. Maybe sit a couple plays out and try to learn some things from some of the more knowledgeable folks around here. There was a mural at my university that read, "Teach thyself to say, 'I do not know,' and thou wilst learn."

Stop trying to win arguments and consider the words and ideas of others. They often have merit.

Jalen knew the deal and he knows who is the best qb. If he stays its on him. He has kind of out Saban in an awkward position. If he has looked as bad as stated there shouldn't even be a competition.

Prevatt, in your words, we are spectators.

This forum is a place for spectators to converse, and talk about which players we like, which coaches we like, and which plays and decisions we like and dislike. It's fun.

This isn't a place for sophists, such as yourself, to come and go on long-winded rants that no one wants to read. This is a place for football discussion. We can discuss negatives and positives, ideally, without drama queens getting in their feelings, and demanding that the discussion end.

I don’t think you understand how practice works. Tua isn’t standing around half the practice watching Jalen. He’s getting plenty of reps.

Yeah, I think my post was pretty clear in alluding to reps with the 1s, which is so important for the offense to gel, and form an identity.

Sure, Tua still benefits from reps with the 2s, but our first team offense, and team in general doesn't

It wasn’t clear at all actually. I think if we get to game week and Tua isn’t taking 70 percent or more with the ones you’d have a point. I don’t think this is a concern one week into camp.

Dude, I get it and I honestly appreciate your enthusiasm. But I'm actually trying to help. You are constantly filled with negativity. It really doesn't seem like you enjoy being a Bama fan, and at this point with the QB stuff, you're inventing reasons to be upset - legitimately upset - for absolutely no good, logical reason. Critique and discuss all you want - great. But there's so much more to discuss and critique than this one issue, and I wished you'd consider turning your focus to another Bama topic or topics. We're in the middle of a dynasty and have such a great team this year - why do you want to spend your time being so dedicatedly negative and narrow-sighted?

Again. It just doesn't seem like you are enjoying being a Bama fan because of your chosen focus. We just won a title in a year where you think Saban mismanaged the QB situation horribly. Now we're number 1 in the country and everyone on Earth knows Tua is QB1. And you're really, really angry.

Please relax.

100% correct. Not only that but driving the competition as you alluded as well. This is a game of sorts where the person doesn’t transfer either. Believe it or not we need Jalen, Mac isn’t the answer yet.

It’s official. Saban is going to cost us the Louisville game. He’s the worst.

Somebody hit me when this weak minded coach retires. I can’t take it anymore.

You do, too. This is a message board for discussion.

My problem isn't that Tua is splitting reps; it's whom he is splitting reps with. It's clear Jalen is not a QB. Mac needs to be getting as much work as he can in case Tua goes down during the season.

A "QB" issue outside of 2015 has never extended past theb1st game.

Its a non issue to me and the decision has already been made....the team and coaches know, so that's all that matters

Mac looked terrible yesterday and is the clear number 3.
