That damn game still pisses me off.

We complete just ONE third down pass and we probably win that game.

Or just stop one on defense...

We'll see soon enough. FSU is going to try to duplicate Clemson's gameplan down to the pregame meal.

FSU doesn't have Watson.

They may have the best QB that we face though.

When the offense has only 2 series more than 5 plays, leaving the defense on the field for 99 plays vs a good offense, you'll lose most times.

Clemson ran the ball more than we did.
42 rushes at 2.2 YPC.

Bama? 34 rushes, 6.5 YPC

Considering that freshman QBs rarely even make it to a national title game, what did we do to maximize our chances of beating a team with a QB with Watson's experience?

The defense held off one of the most prolific offenses in the game for 3.5 quarters. By the end, they were totally exhausted because Sarkisian's patented "Hurry Up, 3 and Out" offense had left the D on the field basically the entire game. Not to mention the defense twice gave the offense the ball inside the Clemson 50 and the O came away with only 3 points. To give the defense any of the blame is just ridiculous. That loss is on the offense, especially the offensive coordinator and the quarterback. The latter has the valid excuse that he was a true freshman, the former has no excuse aside from being a drunken idiot.

Bama would not have even reached the playoffs last year without one of the greatest defenses in history. The offense wasn't good enough.

Those are valid points, but that 5'9" WR was fisting our secondary all night.

And yes, the offensive game planning and strategy was shite.

I just get sick of idiots acting like Jalen was 100% of our problem, when in actuality he was only doing what he was asked to do, within the limitations of being a freshman.

We probably breeze through the playoffs with better offensive strategy.

If Dieter makes that dam wilde item third down catch, we win.

Don't get me wrong, Huddie wouldn't like that, but the rest of us would be okay with another title. :D

Well, 2 things I've always heard are
1. "You learn more from freshman to sophomore year than any other year"
2. "sophomore jinx"

Time will tell.

I agree but you're beating a dead horse...

The defense always gets a pass. Deshaun Watson and Clemson torched our defense in the '16 CFPCG as well, without needing 99 plays...even Saban saw it as he said he called the onside kick 'cause he knew our defense couldn't stop 'em. Detractors of our offense say Clemson scored 21 points in the 4th Quarter this past season 'cause the defense was on the field too long...while that was a contributing factor, Clemson scored 16 points in the 4th Quarter in the '16 game when our defense wasn't on the field that long...maybe our defense just didn't make adjustments in either game, got predictable, and Clemson took advantage...

The last 2 years we had a great defense but they weren't invulnerable; they got torched by the same 2 teams each year (Clemson with Watson at QB and Ole Miss with Kelly). Some times an offense (or a QB) just has your number. In those 4 games we gave up 43 pts/430+ yds, 37 pts (not counting their fumble return for a TD)/520+ yds, 40 pts/550+ yds, and 35 pts/510+ yds. In 3 of those we allowed over 400 yards passing. It's a testament to our offense/special teams that we won 2 of those games...in both losses, the offense was pretty much given all the blame. If the offense could've made a play in one of those games, we win...if the defense makes a play (or stop) in one of those games, we win. What does it take for the defense to share in the blame for losing a game?
