Why is the ND v Houston game delayed?
Posted on 11/28/24 at 12:16 am to SECSolomonGrundy
Because our game took 3 hours and they gotta warm up?

Harper is good, no doubt, but that was a ridiculous game from the refs.
Yeah Harper is legit for sure but this reminded me a lot of the calls Scottie Pippen Jr got.

2 very tough games in Vegas so far. This team has a lot of work to do, but the talent is carrying them through. They’ve shown a lot of fight, which is a great sign. They aren’t on Auburn’s level right now, but I think they might have the highest ceiling of any team.

1. Mo Dioubate
2. Grant Nelson
3. Mark Sears
4. Derrion Reid
5. Aden Holloway
6. Latrell Wrightsell Jr.
7. Jarin Stevenson
8. Cliff Omoruyi
9. Aiden Sherrell
10. Labaron Philon (He has to tighten up because he's been atrocious so far)

I really like that a different guy can be the difference maker for this team on any given night. Bodes well down the stretch.

If Broome doesn’t get 20+ each time we play them, we will sweep aubie.

We do have more big bodies to throw at him than last year.. Problem is we likely get a crew that will call a foul if we look at him.

We will beat them in Coleman and they will beat us in Neville. 2 really good teams.
Neutral Floor right now I would give them the slight edge. Neutral floor in February and March I will give us the edge

Not being a pussy. Stating facts. Auburn is playing the best basketball of any team in the country. I think they are playing close to their ceiling. I think Bama has a much higher ceiling and will be one of the teams to beat at the end of the season.

I still can’t get on board with Stevenson this high. I basically dogged him at the half but he was a difference maker in the second half but 2 good games out of 7 is still too inconsistent for my liking. I definitely have Cliff over him and Philon has been great other than these two in Vegas.

I'm going off the tournament...not the entire season. I didn't clarify that from the jump.

A few thoughts.
Mo D will play in the NBA in the next few years. Lots of Draymond/Herb traits.
Grant Nelson is scrappy as frick and looking a lot like we had hoped he would last year. Getting to play more 4 has really opened up his game.
I do not like Grant Hill as a broadcaster. At all. Literally all he has done for two consecutive games is make backhanded compliments or concern troll comments about us. He's flat out not capable of giving us anything more than grudging praise.
Dylan Harper just shot another FT.
The second leg of a back to back after playing an OT game against Houston was never going to be pretty. Just had to get the win. Depth won both of these for us. I'm still not sure where the rotation is going to go. No one has really looked out of his depth so far.
The refs in both of these games have been complete trash and it ruins the flow of the game.
Good to see Jarin see a few shots fall. He needed it. He's been playing hard and deserved to finally be rewarded for it.

Playing an underdog that has two first rounders in the upcoming NBA draft after playing Kelvin Sampson Prisonball the night before was a recipe for an upset.
We all talked about how this would likely be the deepest Alabama basketball team ever and this early-season tournament is proving the assertion. We're short Youngblood, who will likely start at 2 or 3 when he gets his legs under him, yet still were able to gut out two close games against quality opponents on the strength of our superior depth.
You can tell this team is still a work in progress too. I suspect the team defense will improve over the course of the season as these transfers and freshmen get a feel for playing with one another like they have a string attached.
Also, Mark Sears is such a huge factor in why this team is a credible threat to make a run in the tournament. If our point guards were Philon and Holloway, we'd have some games where we fumble the 2nd half as they try to force things. Instead these guys get to be "Sears on the bench" spark plugs rather than running the offense for a full 40. We saw how Kentucky had an utter meltdown in the tourney last year because their guards broke under tourney pressure. With good health and lack of foul trouble, we can expect Sears on the court in those moments.

Dumb question, when is the championship game of the tournament?
Posted on 11/28/24 at 8:29 am to Robot Santa
Yeah it seems like very few if any of the TNT commentators were willing to give us credit last night. They just kept going on and on about Harper. Rightfully so. He is a great player. But Alabama won the game straight up.

Well that was ugly. But they toughed it out vs 2 lottery picks hitting every shot.
Fast forward we could easily be looking at a tournament squad
