Running the play clock down to sub 5 seconds might be the most infuriating

simple thing to fix on this team outside of the dumbass penalties. It totally negates any advantage on the line of scrimmage when defenders can time the snap. WTF??

I’ve been screaming about this since the Texas game.

in the first half OM had almost double the snaps on O then we had. Partly because they run tempo and partly cuz 9 and the O couldnt move the ball.

I assume this was part strategy to run clock in the second half and also to give the D guys some time on the pine. I see running it down but under 5 it starts to get annoying.

It actually accounts for a lot of the dumbass penalties, because they either get the delay or frantically try to get the play off and jump.

That is bad but Bryce is the one doing a lot of that by trying to get a long look at the defense. Multiple times we are lined up with 15+ seconds and end up snapping it with 3.

Saban said Bryce knows more about what the defense is doing than many coaches and NFL players he’s been around. He gets a lot of control. I also hate letting the time go down especially on the road. I see a lot of NFL qbs do it, Peyton always did it.

It is what Bryce has to do. He has to try to figure out who is blitzing... or if 8 will drop into zone. Since we don't have any receivers running routes that get open quickly, a Bob AND receiver issue, He ends up sacked or throwing the ball away. Defenses have learned what to do to us and we have not learned how to exploit it. Latu is too slow to get open. Georgia's TEs ate UP UT pulling the same crap.

It seems to be more of an issue on the road than at BDS but yes its a problem.

If it were a 35 second play clock, instead of 40, we'd never get a play off without an illegal motion penalty

I mean, our offense destroyed UT as well. Granted BOB went brain dead on the final possession when we got close to FG range, but our offense had their way with UT.

this is interesting since it could be cause of the lack of explosive oline play we are used to

and
penalties

Yeah I couldn't understand why we weren't running the ball when we were down there with only a minute left to play. There was no excuse for leaving Tennessee with time on the clock. I didn't understand why they weren't setting up the FG to be the last play of the game.
