Why not?

1. Oregon would have won 12 straight
2. They would have a conference championship while Bama didn’t win its division.
3. They would have a top 8 win over Utah. Better than any win Bama has.
4. Would add west coast eyeballs to playoff. And I don’t think the committee really wants two teams from the same conference in anyway.

You may be right. They might take Bama over Oregon but I don’t see it

but how could Bama play any worse then that in the rematch.

Because we've played at least one half like that in the last 3 games against a comparable team?

Alabama could stay in over Oregon only if Auburn upsets Georgia this coming weekend. Auburn would be 9-2 coming into the Iron Bowl and a win over Auburn in Jordan-Hare would look very impressive. The Committee will undoubtedly remember Oregon's loss to Auburn in their final deliberations.

OU wasn't a comparable team last year?

In the last 6 games against comparable teams, Clemson, Georgia, Georgia, OU, Clemson and LSU, Bama is 4-2. That is a pretty good record against elite teams.

No team will win consistently against elite teams.

No, they weren't. Their defense had absolutely zero shot to compete with our offense.

Auburn to beat UGA next week so we can go to their stadium and beat the shite out of a two loss top ten ranked Auburn (who beat Oregon earlier).

It sucks but this would go a long way in helping us.

In the last 2 seasons against teams with comparable complete rosters we have shown up and been completely outclassed in the 1st half.

Against Georgia we were able to right back and win due to Georgia being Georgia and Jalen heroics.

Against Clemson we had 2 halves of it

Against LSU we answered in the 2nd half but it wasn't enough

Completely right George. Had we not given up the late 2nd score or had points on drive 1 we are in the show.

We have a chance at the playoff. But we will see.

4th in the Coach’s poll. Oregon at 6 ahead of Minnesota isn’t good news for us

It's something about the coaching where we seemingly wait to see what the other team is doing scheme wise and react from there. We need to be more pro-active. We looked clueless especially on defense in the first half

They lost to a team that will have 3 - 4 losses in the SEC.

I get that Bama didn't win it's division or the SEC, but it isn't like some no name team won the west.

The committee is going to do what they are going to do. There is no way of prognosticating what they will care about because it changes weekly. But I've got my money on Bama getting in above Oklahoma and Oregon, even if they win out.

I do think that not playing on championship Saturday hurts us too. A win over Auburn would have to be very impressive to carry over into that weeks rankings.

Projected CFP top 15 this Tuesday:

1. LSU 9-0
2. Ohio St 9-0
3. Clemson 9-0
4. Alabama 8-1
5. Georgia 8-1
6. Oregon 8-1
7. Utah 8-1
8. Minnesota 9-0
9. Penn St 8-1
10. Oklahoma 8-1
11. Florida 7-2
12. Auburn 7-2
13. Baylor 9-0
14. Wisconsin 7-2
15. Michigan 7-2

The top 3 above will very likely win out and stay ranked in that order. It'll help us a lot if AU beats UGA at JHS and then we finish with a solid win @ AU (who beat Oregon & UGA; close losses to UF & LSU). If that happens I think we're in, no matter what happens in the Pac12 and Big12. Oregon and Utah resumés and eye test won't trump ours. Minn still has to play @ Iowa, @ NW, vs Wisc and likely vs Ohio St in B1G CG. OU almost lost to Iowa St and Baylor barely beat TCU yesterday. Baylor is likely to lose a game or two and OU could lose one too. Conference champ is only one of several tie-breakers (including common opponents) between teams who are considered equal based on resumés, metrics and eye-test.

Honestly? Auburn is going to go into that game with 8-9 wins and be ranked.

We need to fvckin beat a decent Auburn team in Auburn. I'm tired of that shite.

What would really get the ball rolling for us would be UCLA shocking Utah, Auburn beating Georgia, Oklahoma beating Baylor and Iowa beating Minnesota.

Only UCLA would be the huge upset. The other three matchups have a decent chance to go the way we want.

More football to watch (and be invested in).

Does a Clemson lose knock them out ?

Oh absolutely. They’d have zero ranked wins and their loss would be to an unranked or barely ranked team. But I don’t see them losing on their way to the playoffs.

People keep bitching about us but plenty of teams would go undefeated with their schedule.
