See a clear division between the sunshine pumpers ("put your head in the sand") crowd vs the realists. Sunshine pumpers only look at the W-L record and not the style of play that will eventually get you beat.

Everybody ahead of Bama is undefeated, of course they will be ahead of 1 loss Bama.

If Tennessee, Bama and Georgia all finish with one loss, Bama is in and the winner of Georgia/Tenn is in.

All pretty simple really.

I thought we would be 5 but if you have Clemson 4 we have to be 6. Doesnt really matter we win out we are in if we dont we are out.

Us being ahead of TCU is big we could have been much lower if they hated us.

We can be 5 at a minimum next week to me the loser of UGA UT has to go below us as they can no longer make the SEC championship and we can.

I mean, Bama isn't great this year but I think it's surprising they are that high. There is a Power 5 undefeated below them that has better wins.

All of those teams are mediocre at best. I mean KSU just beat OSU by 48 at Texas is still favored to beat them this weekend.

it really is that simple, so whoever down voted you is probably a rival fan or a troll. No lack of them.

isn't it subjective that those who are pessimistic are the realists? Because some others would consider that the pessimism is a defeatist attitude, and not at all realistic.

So, subjective. Right?

edit to note that 497 posts in 7 years, and many of those what you call being a "realist" and what I call being a defeatist, is kind of curious.

Sunshine pumper take: we faced the version of Tennessee that went into Death Valley and won 40-13 and clobbered a decent Kentucky team by 40 points. We essentially spotted them a 28-10 lead, had 150 yards in penalties, and were still a missed field goal away from winning

You seem sensitive to someone pointing out truth to me. We need change and are not playing up to Bama standards. I am not comparing us to anyone. I can tell by watching the team we don't look like we did a few years ago; and outside fan bases have the same assessment.

OP, I agree that looks do matter. By looks, you are saying our team does not match the same standards I have seen in our past teams or the efficiency seen in other teams this year. Thus we are lacking the excellency of play to win the NC in comparison to the top teams I see this year.

I disagree... but then, that's why my opinion doesn't matter.

I thought the year we got shellacked by Clemson, Bama couldn't be stopped.

Yet we all thought the sky was falling during the Iron Bowl last year... only to see what the team was capable of the very next week?

Looks don't matter to me anymore. Don't get me wrong, I love watching Bama run up the score against opponents but I don't believe it is indicative of the competition they face. I'd rather have this team, right here and right now compared to one who hasn't been punched in the face a couple of times.

Those other top teams, I've reviewed their schedules. None impress me with exception of victories [tOSU & Michigan] over Penn State... but even tOSU was behind much of that game.

The truth is EVERY team (certainly in the SEC and against former acolytes) who play Bama knows - if you can take the down the king just once, it results in a payday of huge proportions... whether it is to just get boosters off of Jimbo's back for another season, or setup Sumlin and J. Football, or get Gus his previous extension (which AU still is shelling out for).

We should have known it would come to this when Dabo stated ... "we've be preparing for Bama throughout the season"

I don't disagree, but winning still matters.

For all of Bama's faults and sloppy play this year, the CFP committee is still giving them a lot of respect.

But, like I said, it means nothing at the moment. It will all work out. Next two Saturdays will have the shot group much tighter. But, it's likely another CCG weekend shakeup to sort it all out

Lots of football ahead. Hope to see major improvement this Saturday and continued from here on out

Don’t understand the downvotes for the OP. What was it that’s incorrect?

Nothing in the post. The title causes a disconnect.

Bama has a loss. No way they are going ahead on any of the other 5 at this point even if they had not struggled except for the UTk game.

The title makes it seem like the CFP committee is down on Bama, yet they still have them ahead of a P5 undefeated.

But, there are also those who think Bama is flawless though, I suspect.

TCU, OhioSt, and Clemson go undefeated.

Tenner loses by 21 to UGA in Athens, but wins the rest of their games.

BAMA wins out and beats undefeated UGA in the SECCG by 1 on a last second FG.

BAMA in the playoffs and Tenner and UGA are out??

Yes Bama is in in that scenario. A conference championship among three teams who each went 1-1 against each other is the deciding factor. Win out we are in, no doubt about it. I’m not saying we will do that but the recipe for being a playoff team is simple.

Got to remember ut barely beat Alabama with a fg. They didn't demolish Alabama. That is important in your scenario.
