If he is looking for a reason to stay the daughter is as good as any.
If he is looking for a reason to come, 25 mil and change over 6 years would be a good reason .
Tomorrow noon. If he hasn't said by to his team I don't think he will.

I agree Fairhope

You can see how well he's done (ridiculous) but at Wichita St he will always lose in the Final 4 or Elite 8 to a blue blood school or bigger conference school simply because of the level of athletes. At Bama it will level the playing field because higher caliber athletes can be easily recruited to Alabama and it is much harder to get a kid to consider WSU that is an elite type of bball talent. That is what he has to likely get his wife to understand...that and an extra 3M or so a year

Tomorrow's not going to suck any more than today did. Everyone went into today with the anticipation that there'd be some positive developments. Now everyone understands this could go on for a few days. We're in a hurry up and wait mode.

People who knew Marshall said he would be extremely thoughtful about this and I'll be damned if they weren't right.

I was more referring to the April Fools bs than the anticipation.

Even though the anticipation sucks, I'm still glad we're swinging for the fences on this hire.

Can we go ahead and decide ahead of time to ban anyone who makes this post?

"Breaking: Gregg Marshall has signed at Alabama for 6 years, $25 million, per ESPN

April Fools!"

Newest update added to the OP: Summary from Shannon Terry:

*** Bill Battle's ~8 hour visit with Marshall was expected.

*** After the visit, the Alabama camp remained positive about landing Marshall.

*** According to several credible news sources, the Alabama offer appears to be at the upper threshold of the $3.5 to $4.0+ million range. That is consistent with what we have been reporting and hearing for the past couple weeks - but it's not likely WSU can come close to matching.

*** While the Alabama $$$ offer is definitely a factor and demonstrates the University's commitment to basketball, sources close to Marshall indicate that money is not the only and/or primary factor in his decision. Other factors include his legacy and his family.

*** Thus far, the only thing that has NOT gone as expected is the timeline. We obviously expected Marshall to have a final decision at this point. He's still mulling over his options.

*** According to sources, Marshall has given the Alabama contingent positive guidance throughout the entire process -- despite what outside national media has projected.

*** Even though Marshall is giving Alabama positive assurances, we still believe he has yet to make an ultimate decision. Next 24-48 hours are crucial.

From Tuscaloosa on the rant.

I feel bad about saying anything negative about him as a poster when he was starting threads on the rant.. He's provided a ton of good info in there.

Anyone think Saban has helped out with this at all? With football being such a big deal here, I would imagine Battle asked Saban to also reach out to Marshall and Mrs. Marshall.

So nothing we haven't been hearing for the past 2 days, basically.

No.
Well, more than likely no. Unless GM was showing concerns about "football school " mentality, it could backfire bringing in a the football coach for a basketball job.
