He looked like Joe Montana compared to some Mcelroy outings.

It was bad all the way around against Auburn , no need to reference a slogan that the media gave him. Inept play? U must have not been around pre Saban or for the month stretch that mark Ingram bailed out GMAC. I love Greg but that was bad as well as a list of bad QB play before him

Jalen definitely didn't have a good game, but as you say, no one on our offense did really. Jonah Williams had his worst game ever, Ridley played bad, other WRs weren't getting open, guys weren't fighting for important yards, etc. It was just a bad day for our offense in an extremely hostile environment.

Greg McElroy led to Saban's first NC at Alabama, and was hands down a better pocket passer than Jalen

What were his stats in the the NC game vs Texas?

No one is saying that Mcelroy was a bad QB bro, we are just saying that Mcelroy at his worst looked worse than Jalen at his worst.

Sometimes he was, sure.

eta: look, we are all on the same side. I love Mcelroy, and I have defended him on this board probably as much as I have Hurts. We are all on the same team. If Hurts is struggling to generate points vs Clemson, I am all for Tua getting a shot. And I don't think that is out of the realm of happening.

Receivers were open a lot of the time. Hurts just didn't deliver it to them. Pretty often he didn't even look their way. That's not unusual.

I've seen this a few times on here, I just didn't see that vs AU. I saw our guys blanketed most plays. And sometimes AU even held the shite out of our guys, and it went uncalled. I will happily concede my opinion if someone shows me pictures, or video of our WRs running open all game.

Struck a chord?

Be more pretentious funky. We were discussing quantifiable data, not opinions.

did you just call me prententious when I said that

i strongly disagree

and you followed with

quote:

"okay, then there's no point in discussing it. All hail Jalen Manning"

??

I simply disagreed with you and made a statement about what I remember from the season, and you came back with a snarky arse comment. I am pretentious, though. Got it.

How so?

You do know GMac played with cracked ribs in that game, right?

Pretty sure Gmac said that rumor wasn't true.

I love Greg and the rumor was he was hurt, but the south Carolina, ole miss, and Tenn games weren't good Either. He didn't lead us to that title but came thru when needed. It's a shame a 19 yr old hadn't been given that same latitude to grow

Forgive me, but you act like the Auburn game didn’t happen. You still paint a picture of Jalen as Mr. Clutch. I just don’t see him that way.

We technically did those plays with Ardarius. If you split Jalen out wide and do a sweep pass? It's not like Saban hated the wildcat when it was introduced.

It’s not a knock against credibility or solid info. Boz, (if he’s who I think he is) gets solid info. But I can’t remember a time that Saban has ever pulled a QB this late on the season for having a couple of bad games. Not saying it’s not possible he would do so. But he didn’t say he would start, maybe just play some.

Wrong BPM. He’s talked about it several times on his morning radio show on Sirius. His ribs were busted that day and he said it hurt like hell to try and throw. If he’d had to throw it that night, he couldn’t have done it.

Our pass pro isn’t as bad as it’s shown. When they rush more than 4, there’s got to be a hot route open somewhere, Jalen just doesn’t find it. If they rush 4 and beat our 5, we’re fricked if we start Tom Brady.

That 19 year old has started more games than many college QBs will play in their career. It's not like another candle on his birthday cake is suddenly going to make him see the field better.

I give up...People have dug in their heels and that's fine. We re all on the same side here. No one is saying JH is perfect but it's convenient that he played well against LSU and miss St and the naysayers were so quiet.

He has had more bad games against good competition than he has had good. He seems to have limitations as a passer.
